They have closed it, because:

it becomes clear that the logo is here to stay - there is little point in damaging the reputation of our Olympic Games, that was never the intention. The protest has been effectively made.

The same equally reliable source suggested they may not pay the design consultants because of the epilipsy problems... This sounds like the start of a way to back out of it without losing too much face to me....
