unriggables ban

Postby riggable on Sun Jun 10, 2007 6:46 pm

My friend, unriggable, has pleaded with me to ask the community and the moderators why he has been banned from the forum yet again. See, he does so much bad and tasteless and humourless things hes unsure of what he did this time. Could a moderator clarify?
thanks

Last time it was pretty bad. I'm anxious to hear what he did.

Thread-jacking. He's been warned about it before, and the second offense is a 5 day forum ban.

While we're on the topic of bans…

Why was Iliad banned?

Thread-jacking. He'll be out for a few weeks though as it was his 3rd offense.

You're thread-jacking. This isn't about ignore lists! Gosh

Ignore lists are quite obvious, if you're on mine then that means I do not want you to join any of my games.

Taking over a thread on a message board by taking a part of the original posted topic, twisting it around and "hijacking" the thread itself. What happens is that the original content contained in the post becomes moot and whatever the "Thread Jacker" has manipulated the content to be becomes the new content thereby "hijacking" the original intent of post. People now respond to the "thread jacker's" input and the that becomes the focus of the thread.

Is that clear?

But what if the OP changed the thread name to what the new conversation is. Would that still be counted as thread-jacking?

I don't know about unriggable, but iliad really clogs up the forum with a plethora of long quotes followed by . . . ? Kudos to the mods on reigning him in some.

when someone started talking about something else and the thread became not about it then it would be hijacking the thread about hijacking threads

and if the title was please hijack this thread it would be considered spam and locked

ok well this thread was about unriggables ban in particular, nothing else, the author never stated he wanted a definition of thread-jacking yet you AK have twisted the topic to what you want to talk about. therefore YOU have thread-jacked this thread. i am giving you an official warning, if you do it again you will receive a forum ban for a few days.

incorrect it was about the reason for unriggable's ban..

thread jacking is the reason for unriggable's ban, therefore it is about threadjacking.
