French elections: people sick of nothing but crappy options

Postby mrswdk on Mon Jun 12, 2017 3:06 am

With all the ballots counted, Mr Macron's LREM and MoDem won 32.3% of the vote.

But turnout was sharply down, at 48.7% compared with 57.2% in the first round in 2012, which analysts said reflected a sense of resignation among Mr Macron's opponents.

FN leader Marine Le Pen blamed her party's poor performance on the low turnout, saying France's electoral system, which favours larger parties, needed to be reformed.

"This catastrophic abstention rate should raise the question of the voting rules which keep millions of our compatriots away from the polling stations," she said.

The ruling class and its rigged system are just about holding tight. But for how much longer?

Vive la revolution!

mrswdk,I apologize for digressing but this article sucks, or more precisely the journalistic work. Not really the politic analyse but picture work and words... (which is a big part of journalist work, no?)

What I can quote :
"And the big losers among the centre-right candidates were Senegalese-born Rama Yade and Henri Guaino, a former top aide to ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy."

Why this journalist fell obliged to say it? "senegalese born"... And so what? It seems that this journalist really need to speak about her origins. That makes more buzz than saying Guaino is a Arles-born guy?
The same with Hervé Berville "a Rwanda refugee" (he is now a french as he needed it to be eligible...)

Thanks also to this journalist to put a big picture of Marine Le Pen, only candidate in Henin Beaumont circonscription (a 26000 inhabitants city), when he puts Guaino, Cambadélis and Hamon in one picture, no picture of modem candidate (which certainly will have 80 deputees) or France insoumise (which had done 13% as FN...)

"The election took place amid heightened security after a series of devastating terror attacks in recent years." Why this journalist fell obliged to say it too? Just to repeat to british readers that the terror moment is not finished? a**hole...

I'm quite disappointed with this Hugh Schofield's article, who normally does his job more professionnal...

If you think really long and hard I'm sure you'll probably be able to work out why Marine Le Pen (recently got 11 million votes to be the French president) gets featured more prominently than three members of the soon-to-be-wiped-out Socialist Party.

Guaino took part of Les Républicains...

Hugh Schfield is supposed to talk about politics, not doing an article for people magazine...

ok Marine was presidential candidate, and had a lot of votes, but why just put quasi the 1/4 of article on her face, easy to keep in mind...

You can continue to play it cynical and patronazing (or just upset), but I was just saying this article is not impartial, filled with clichés, a bit racist and finally written with trowel, you only tell me that it's normal that Marine had a picture on an article for legislative election...
I repeat : Sorry if you're fan of this guy, but this article sucks. I must precise : It's my personal view on this article, not on you...
