Both got a lot of radio time in the 90's, but while Torn is a great song, Ironic is a better one in context. Jagged Little Pill is a stand-out album, Natalie Imbruglia was kind of a one hit wonder, plus she didn't write the song. It's a cover of this:
Ironic garnered a lot of hate, but I think most of it was due to how successful it was (to the point it was over-played as a single), and because of the profile of the singer/songwriter.

Honestly, I'd take a well put-together album that reminds me of what a singer who writes her own songs can do over a slick piece of marketing. I like "Torn", but it's 90's ephemera. Whatever you think of Nietz's 90's current MTV kick- MTV putting out Jagged Little Pill as an unplugged album in '99 was a nice endnote,
There's a reason why Coogan and Brydon don't share a bond over "Torn".
