Melenchon would be really stupid not to negociate with Hamon to become his prime minister or something.
Donelladan is a big Melanchon fan, but I m sorry, if it s hamon+melanchon vs lepen on the second round i won t even vote. That would be like chosing between chlamedia or vaginal herpes.

I still think that there is too much hatred in france against le pen's party to imagine her beating hamon on the second round. I don t think it s possible to see le pen even reach 40% on a potential second round... 30-35% is basically as high as she could get on a second round. She s pretty much doomed and no one would consider working with her and her party under any circumstance. In 2002, Chirac won 82% vs 18% against Marine's father. She isn t as despicable as her father so she would get much more than he did, but that would still be far from majority.

Le Pen has the problem that Brexit and Trump just preceded her. The storm around those two have created a very inauspicious media environment for far right parties.

It turns out Macron was fucking the head of Radio France, Mathieu Gallet, in order to get preferable press coverage. ONLY IN FRANCE.

did you post the wrong article, saxi? I only ask because that one said rumours/allegedly and not that it actually happened.

Maybe they should consider annexing the Sudetenland. Or invade Poland and use it as a buffer, give them some liebensraum.

Loooool! Did you purposely misspell Lebensraum? Because Liebensraum would translate to "love space".

Ummm, yes?

I was reading a BBC article today about how Sarkozy is about to be hauled up in court for campaign finance fraud and Fillon is in trouble for making dodgy payments to his wife, and then towards the end there were some smug French guys saying 'yeah but Brexit and Trump won't be repeated here because we look after our workers better'.

You wish!
The only scenario that could work out for her is the one described by saxi. The far left making an alliance with the far left socialist candidate. Combined, they could move to the second round vs Marine Le Pen and then it would turn out to be a 50-50 election. The moderate right or the centrist would beat her by a landslide.

Lol a fake rumour lanched by a russian media... saxi you are better than this! I know how much influence the FSB had in the US elections, but you can t expect them to get away with it each time.
There is a rumour right now that says that it would be a person very close to Macron who gave out to the media the Fillon scandal about his wife's suspected fake job. This, you can believe.

Yeah yeah, just like Brits obviously won't vote for Brexit and Americans will obviously elect Clinton instead of Trump.

The difference being that the Front National, the party that is ran by the Le Pen has been around since the late 70s and that we already know the drill. Marine is much more moderate than her father though, who used to make jokes about gas chambers and against the arabs publicly. He's a huge biggot, she is more of a biggot under cover. So yes, she can do much better than him. That s why I do give her a chance against an extreme left coalition. Against moderate candidates she doesn't stand a chance, plain and simple.

The brexit is due to a lot of people just wanting to make a point but not actually wanting what happened, and trump actually had less votes than hilary and only won because of the structure of the american system.
The french system is much more simple. Round 1, unless someone gets 50%+ votes, there is a round 2 with the two most voted candidates. Your vote counts the same no matter where you live.

So, to recap, mrswdk -
* In the UK, Brexit won because people didn't want what they were voting for but got it anyway.
* In the US, Trump won because people wanted what they were voting for but didn't get it.

Seems like old man Le Pen was similar to the current dutch Geert Wilders who has openly stated he is in favour of concentration camps.

Brexit won due to misinformation. It's as simple as that. British politicians have been lieing to their own people and using the EU as a scapegoat.

It will go down as a sad day in history, indeed:

2016 - the year a politician lied in a political campaign

Do you honestly think the brexit was a good decision for the UK s interests and that most people are happy about it today?

It's a weird one- most Brits now know they were lied to by the Brexit politicians. A fair percent don't care, as they just wanted out. Another fair percent think that both sides lied.

I think the referendum was a poor way of deciding the process.

I only know a few people who say they voted Leave and they're all looking forward to being out.

I voted Remain and to be honest I'm starting to look forward to being out as well.
