The Siberian Candidate

This scandal is over 6 hours old. It's got some great stuff: blackmail, golden showers, treason? Where are all the conspiracy lovers?

These Reports Allege Trump Has Deep Ties To Russia

Could you imagine the outrage from the right if Hillary had won, and this was about her? Of course, that would be a stretch, because she hasn't been telling America how great Putin and Russia are throughout the campaign... unlike someone else I could mention.

It's an interesting one this. Both the Republicans and the Dems seem to have hired this guy to dig up intel. It got leaked to the media, who sat on it. The Republicans found it so conderning that they gave it to the FBI, who won't comment on it because they only divulge info on ongoing investigations if it' involves Clinton.

The media seems to have had this info, but couldn't confirm it. Intelligence agencies have it, and seem to trust the source.

It's a mess, to say the least.

It does make me wonder why Trump has been so reticent to condemn Russian hacking though.

If even the Washington Post thinks the Buzzfeed story is ridiculous, you know it's ridiculous -

Clintonworld’s fury at the media over Trump-Russia story is a bit overblown

These are the last, desperate gasps of the Russophobes in their final 9 days of life. On January 20 these dogs are getting taken to the special room at the kennel. On January 21 the F-35 is getting canceled, the anti-Moscow sanctions are getting lifted, No-Export restrictions are getting slapped on Trident, and the U.S. Army is pulling out of Germany at 70 MPH down the autobahn. And, if we're lucky, by springtime Russian and Belarussian Motor Rifle Divisions will have started the grand tour of downtown Tallinn on their way to clear out the drunks in the Estonian parliament.

Cyber-security experts support Trump's skepticism about CIA's claims of "hack" -

Experts on the malicious computer codes commonly used by Russian hackers are far from united behind the Obama administration’s accusations against Moscow, with a few echoing President-elect Donald Trump’s mistrust and asking for more information.

The media fury is pretty interesting too. If anything though, I'd say it was a last grasp for an old ethical model of media. Buzzfeed went rogue and published something that other media outlets had been sitting on. It's a brave new world.

And they'll get the Gawker treatment for it because the report contained a defamatory falsehood about one of Trump's attorneys that he's already demonstrably proved false; that he was in Prague this year to meet with Russian SVR agents. He's already provided passport records and statements from alibis that he was in California during the time in question and has never even been to Prague.

Peter Thiel will have a field day funding this lawsuit. There won't be a Buzzfeed a year from now.

Breaking - Ukraine Tried to Influence U.S. Election to Install Hillary

A Ukrainian-American operative who was consulting for the Democratic National Committee met with top officials in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington in an effort to expose ties between Trump, top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.

The Ukrainian efforts had an impact in the race, helping to force Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia.

Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him
Because, of course, our Intel bureaus have nothing better to do than brief the President and PEEOTUS on every crazy internet rumor that comes along, right?

Some of the memos were circulating as far back as last summer. What has changed since then is that US intelligence agencies have now checked out the former British intelligence operative and his vast network throughout Europe and find him and his sources to be credible enough to include some of the information in the presentations to the President and President-elect a few days ago.

Do you want a participation ribbon?

Anyway, the email investigaiton is still going on. Chafetz just announced yesterday that the House will continue tormenting Hillary indefinitely.

The next time one of these pop up on Buzzfeed they can just push it out of the headlines by ordering poor ol' Hillary to resume dancing with another subpeona. That's her life now.

A: Trump never paid 10,000 rubles to have a garbanzo bean on his bed.

Saxitron the Russian apologist. Enough said.

Trump needs to release his tax returns. Trump will have this Russian connection and his apologetic attitude to Putin addressed.

Trump will be our President, but he will come with heavy baggage aka Trump University and his many failed or soon to be failing businesses. We really do not know the true worth of Trump and he continues hiding his tax returns from Americans.

BUT HECK, the guy really knows how to tweet/twitter in the early hours after midnight. I see him glued to his tweets 24/7.

CNN is a fake news site. They didn't even do any investigation. They don't even go the bare minimum of journalistic due diligence. The CIA report referred to the "golden shower" and "hotel hookers" as a reason for why they conclude that Trump is working for the Russians. The theory being that the Russians are blackmailing Trump. The only problem is that the whole golden shower and hotel hookers was fan fiction that originated on 4chan of all places. And this shows up in the CIA report! These fucking morons will latch onto anything in their desperation to make Trump look bad.

An accurate depiction of the transition-

Image

The Dems, the Reps and Obama are all acting like little children. The John "bomb bomb bomb" McCain is one demented, crazy individual and hopefully this debacle will be the end of him. Maybe the people of Arizona will finally do the right thing and stop voting for this nutbag.

For those who don't remember or might not know, this is a picture of John "greatest pilot ever" McCain's plane after he got done hotshotting on the flight deck of the Forrestal.

Image

The motherfucking did a wet start of the engine and armed his weapons systems. He launched his plane's Zuni rocket on the flight deck that hit parked planes loaded with thousand pound bombs. This set off a chain reaction which damn near sunk the carrier and got 134 sailors killed and another 161 wounded, some with blown off limbs and other seriously maiming injuries.
If he had been any other person instead of the son of a navy admiral he'd still be in the brig to this day for this stunt.
He was screwing around, hotshotting and damn near sunk an aircraft carrier.

Anyway, Trump is lying. It tends to happen every time he opens his mouth.

And (from another thread)...
saxitoxin wrote:Feel really sorry for all those C-suite execs at Bank of America and Goldman Sachs who paid good money for ambassadorships to France, Monaco, Italy, the Bahamas, etc. They're the real losers in all this. Won't someone think of the would-be ambassadors?

Trump has now brought at least five Goldman Sachs veterans into his administration.
I guess you didn't need to feel sorry for them after all. Maybe you should feel sorry for the suckers that voted for him.

CNN reported that a leading senator, and former Republican presidential candidate had passed on a dossier to the FBI due his concern over its contents. That was not "fake news". That was actually what happened. They didn't publish the dossier. That was Buzzfeed.

I find the whole situation pretty interesting, and not simply because it seems like there's dirt on Trump that the Putin has. Trump has sided, openly, with Russian foreign intelligence agencies, and said that American intelligence agencies are like the Nazis.

But consider this- what they might have on him is

1) Basically some sort of set of tapes of him doing something a bit weird involving prostitutes-

This is a guy who already has multiple allegations of sexual assault, and was recorded boasting about how he could get away with it

2) He might have made some dodgy business deals-

He's already a bankrupt who won't share his tax returns.

3) His campaign might have some dodgy links to Russian intelligence

Been done- his campaign chairman had to resign because of dogy dealing over the Ukraine

4) He might have been complicit in Russian manipulation of the election

We know he spread fake news already, and publicaly called on Russia to hack Clinton as part of his campaign

In essence, we already know that the conclusions of the report are broadly accurate. What I think is a game-changer is that people in he Republican party are starting to be a bit more wary of him.

Symm caught spreading #FakeNews --

Donald Trump wasn’t the only presidential candidate whose campaign was boosted by officials of a former Soviet bloc country.

Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump by publicly questioning his fitness for office. They also disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election. And they helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers, a Politico investigation found.

Well anyway, I don't think that it's this particular piece of scandal that will bring down Trump. Like I said, he's had similar stuff and worse, and people didn't care. Where it will hobble him is in the House. If anything brings him down it will be the inevitable scandals of ethics violations, combined with that diminished level of trust in Senate and Congress, the press, the intelligence agencies, the foreign community, and the civil service.
