2vs2, 23h45min. for team2, 15min. for team1? [Outdated]

Postby Winkelried on Sat Jun 02, 2007 9:33 am

I play a 2 vs 2. Freestyle
I'm in Team 1.
Team 2 started Round 1, Team 1 finished Round 1.
Then, Team 2 started Round 2 after 23h 45min. (Player 4 after 23h 50 min.)
Team 1 had 15 min. for doing theyr turns, befor Round 2 ends. (My teammate missed).

Is this fair, taktic, skill, normal?

What happen when Team 2 miss the turn? Do Team 1 miss the turn to?

Thx

Sadly this is a "fair" tactic in Freestyle...

There are numerous suggestions to "fix" this... I believe the best was to limit the "double turn" rule to the first 12 hours of a turn... thus always ensuring the 2nd turn gets to play before the time is up...

If team 2 misses so does team 1. The tactic is perfectly "legal" however it is grounds on which you may leave negative feedback.

in a block situation like that, if team 1 runs a doubles block where they basically leave no time for team 2 to make their moves, team 2 will miss, and then team 1 is free to go again, (also finish first, and maintain control so they could block again if they wanted to). basically a back to back turn.

when team 2 comes back, they will of course get double armies for their turn, but they miss an opportunity to fort (if it is chained or adjacent) and to get a card.

i dunno, it is a dirtier tactic, but its not like there isnt a time-clock counting it down...you know when they are planning to move if they are doing this...seems pretty easy to stop if someone really cares that much about it.

I don't think it is that easy to stop because it requires one to be at their computer at a specific 10-15 minute period. Even though one may know when that time is, a lot of people can't always be at the computer (i.e. work, family and other real life activities)

no it isn't so easy to stop..actually with this strategy you can turrn a nearly lost or loosing situation in to a winning. this has now happen in a game i'm in (already eliminated). they used this startegy to conquer europe and austrailiaand then they benefite from the bonus without to be afraid to get stopped. and then they eliminated one more..(check Game 473683)

And if your opponents sitting in a other timezone then they will do this at a time when you are in deep sleep....

Well, you always know when the 24 hour period will end. Just plan your games accordingly. When you start it, when you make your moves etc. It's all part of freestyle.

This could be a way of making other teams DeadBeat...

If you play with the last 15 minutes - so they miss their turn - they're blocked from playing as it was their turn last...

So you could wait another 23 hours... play your turn again and make them skip again...

Rinse and repeat... even if they do scrape a turn they won't be able to play it properley and they will lose.

not really. if you play, and then they run out of time, it flips over and all parties are allowed to play again. so even if you went right away, they would have plenty of time to take their turns and recieve all their armies x2.

like fitz said, it is easy enough to figure when it will happen, and you can plan accordingly if you really care that much about the game. convesely, if you can manage to wrangle control of the block back to your side, you can do the same tactics right back at them.

it is all part of playing freestyle.

Yes. Freestyle can be very dirty. But that's the beauty of it! :D
