Too bad, its rated R so you can't see it. (Unless a thoughtless adult accompanies you) :P

This is one thing I like about Canada's rating system. It's a lot less strict, but if it's R rated and you're underage, you're not allowed to see it even if an adult accompanies you.

I don't shield my children from issues that they will face in life.
The way I look at it is each child is different, and each child grows mentally and physically different. A parent knows when it is the right time to talk to their children. I have never shielded my boys and I have a very trusting relationship with each one of them. They know they can come to me or their father with any thing.

My sons are 24,22,13, and 8.

won't they face homosexuality in life?

This is really a silly question. I just told you that I do not, and did not shield them from issues about life. Homosexuality is a part of life.

Jay, no one gives a f*ck. Get over it.
The movie is wonderful and just because there are alternative lifestyles shown in the film, doesn't matter.
Alternative lifestyles are all around us, you can't avoid it, so just embrace it. Now I think that the school should've sent permission slips home to ask the parents if the children could watch it because, yes, it is an R rated movie, and there are some controversial scenes. When children are that young, parents should be asked, but if they're filing a law suit for something like that, they need to get their heads out of their asses and move along. That's a waste of time.

No, you get over it. I will embrace homosexuality as soon as you and Hector embrace Christianity. (Not really, but its about as likely) Maybe focus on your own head instead of others?

Can't we all just stop fighting and realize that the sequel to this mediocre
movie with a controversial subject will make everything better?

But why are you against homosexuality? 'God said so' is really not a valid argument. God says many things and these can be interpreted in many ways. As I said before, god was for (or not strictly against) slavery, but for the last 200 or so years, every major religion has been putting as much distance between itself and the very idea that it supported slavery as is possible.

In a few dozen years, the vast majority of Christians will probably be largely indifferent to homosexuality, so why do you insist on being against it?

For the same reason I'm against rape, pedophilia, incest, murder and so on. It's a sin. Slavery, as far as I know, is not a sin. In the OT men used to sell themselves into slavery to repay their debt.

In a few dozen years the vast majority of "true" Christians will not be indifferent to homosexuality. As stated a number of times before, putting a "bean" label on a can of corn does not change what is inside the can.

You are the most pretentious ass I have ever met on the internet. So you are saying that slavery is not a sin but homosexuality isn't because of some tripe you read in a book. The bible is a fundamentally flawed book laced with contradictions and basing your life strictly on it is madness. Homosexuality is not a sin because individual liberty isn't harmed. When someone's freedom is removed i.e in rape thats when it becomes a sin. Slavery is one of the worst sins because it removes freedom from the individual. If you were born into slavery you would understand but instead you talk about as if it is some nicety like a lifestyle choice. These people HAVE NO FREEDOM. Saying homosexuality is worse than slavery is the most arrogant piece of fucking shit I have ever read on the internet. If people choose to be gay they should have that right, instead of living in some nanny state where authoritarian dictators force them to follow certain procedures and undermine basic civil liberties.

Yo Neutrino,
I'm afraid that Jay doesn't actually have any objective rational reasons for arguing that homosexuality is a sin. Jay's argument essentially is that homosexuality is wrong because an old book says so. There's really no point arguing the point any further, because it's like head-butting a brick wall, you'll just get met with a wall of scripture, because Jay hasn't evolved (get it?) to understand that classifying acts as morally wrong requires some objectively verifiable proofs; and can't simply be done by citing passages of old books, no matter how revered they are.

From the very start of this thread Jay has simply shouted 'Bible says so, I win' at any arguments that have threatened the original position. There's really no point anymore... Jay isn't going to engage with your rational points, you're just going to be told that the Bible doesn't think that homosexuality is a good thing, so neither does Jay.

Feel free to try to get Jay to explain why homosexuality is objectively morally wrong. I'd be fascinated to watch Jay wriggle out of answering the question again; but I fear you're wasting your time, because Jay can't do it, but is too scared to admit it.

QFT, what this knucklehead (jay) does not realise is that unlike rape, incest, murder, paedophilia and all that other fucked up shit homosexuality is something where both people involved are consenting and no-one is there against their own will. He is as bad as those chavs on the street that go 'fukin hate gays' and when you ask why just go 'coz its wrong..' Basing your life on a book is a sad way to live your life. Jay should have some free will and not just conform to ideas stated in a novel. Hes as bad as the 1920 Christians in the Ku Klux Klan that promoted racist ideals and lynched black people and used the BIBLE to justify their views.

I don't understand how you people pretend to have a low opinion of this imaginary internet guy Jay.

Yet you all seem to be getting pretty emotional that he doesn't approve of you being homosexuals.

It's can't be healthy to base your existance on things he's telling you.

Just turn off the computer go find some nice guys to have sex with and forget all about Jay.

One thing that no one, or at least only a few people, mentions is that the same claims made about homosexuality being disallowed and gay marriage being wrong, are the same claims that were railed at blacks in the military and interracial marriages.

Replace "Sinful homosexuality" with "miscegenation" and replace the phrase "Gays can't be in the military because their presence would disrupt the unit" with "Blacks can't be in the military because their presence would disrupt the unit."

(By the way, The unit was disrupted, but the unit got over it.)

It's time for the nation to get over its generalized homophobia. Not all gays want to have sex with you. Gays don't want to recruit your children. Gays don't want to destroy your institutions.

Since the nation has moved on and accepted the fact that Blacks are equal to all others, it's time for it to do the same with homosexuals.
