The other day I saw a committee meeting where one MP announced that he had broken the Ramadan fast with 2 of the 5 mosques in his riding (note: he's not Muslim). At least in Canada, multiculturalism has become a political gag where politicians take obscure religious holidays more seriously than governance or other silly things that I might expect the legislators of the land to consider.
