Should Canadians be banned from Yellowstone?

Postby saxitoxin on Thu May 19, 2016 11:01 am

All in a single week ...

In a press release issued Monday, Yellowstone National Park officials announced a baby bison had to be euthanized after a pair of Canadian tourists put the animal in their car, fearing it was cold.

"The bison calf was later euthanized because it was abandoned and causing a dangerous situation by continually approaching people and cars along the roadway," park officials said in a press release.

Officials tried numerous times to re-integrate the kidnapped bison back into the pack, but it was rejected by the herd.

The father and son placed the animal in the back of their SUV and brought it to a ranger station last Monday.

“They were demanding to speak with a ranger,” witness Karen Richardson told East Idaho News. “They were seriously worried that the calf was freezing.”

Reports suggest the weather was relatively mild the day the kid-napping took place, with a daytime high of 10 and a low of 3C.

"They sincerely thought they were doing a service and helping that calf by trying to save it from the cold,” Rob Heusevelet added.

Federal arrest warrants have been issued for three Canadian men shown walking off-trail illegally at Yellowstone National Park in a video that surfaced on the internet over the weekend.

The men are members of High on Life, a Canadian clothing company and producer of travel and adventure videos.

Reid said Yellowstone officials are still assessing what damage may have been caused by the men walking onto the hot spring.

Hot springs have sensitive wet, soft bacterial mats that play a role in the colors associated with the spring, she said.

“When people walk on them it actually makes like white footprints in the bacterial mat,” Reid said.

New photos have emerged that show, the week before, the Canadians were the ones responsible for vaporizing a portion of the Bonneville Salt Flats -

The death threats on their FB page are pretty funny, though - https://www.facebook.com/sundayfundayz/ -

I have a question on the first situation. Presumably Canadians are used to cold temperatures... so why did these particular Canadians think 10 degrees Celsius was cold? In the interest of full disclosure, I have no idea how hot or cold 10 degrees Celsius is primarily because I'm not a Communist and use the appropriate Farenheit measurements for temperature.

Don't humanize her by using only her first name. Her name is Linday Searcy.

apropriate as in "we're a bunch of god worshipping morons using feet, fingers, cups, stones and all kind of crap to measure things, we play football with our hands and we don't want to know what the whole world does cause if we are doing it differently it has to be because the others are doing it wrong".

duh.... celsius is just as basic as it can be to be understood. 0° water freezes, 100° water boils. A fridge is at about 5°... a good temperature in the car would be 22°. 10° is basically sweater+jacket no gloves cold.

She's the one who drives the blue Pontiac. Usually brings an egg salad sandwich for lunch.

You'd think a guy who makes a virtue out of using the barbaric Fahrenheit system would at least know how to spell Fahrenheit correctly.

Farenheit is far better for everyday weather type stuff. The units for Celsius are too large. The difference between 20 and 30 is huge, whereas with Fahrenheit you have a lot more room for nuance. For instance, if the forecast says 50s-60s, i know i probably need like a light coat. High 60s-70s, forget it, wear a tee. 80s, regular wear. 90s, shorts and lightest shirt, maybe some flip-flops. Above, strip down to birthday suit and swim in some sun block.

If you wanna be scientific, use Kelvin. Celsius sucks, euro-bros.

Spot on. There is a growing grassroots movement in the UK pushing for weather forecasts to give the temperature to 5 decimal places, but unfortunately lizardman rights are not as well protected in Europe as they are in the US.

For now.

if we are scientific we use kelvins too. If we want everybody to understand... we use what everybody uses... celsius. you guys can stay in your foot clan cave and give receipe measures in cups, and call hand egg football.

I didn't understand shit regarding your weather forecast. so celsius wins!
a weather forecast here tells you like 16° in the morning, 25° in the afternoon... wonder how is that not precse enough for you

Fair enough, Centigrade was what the system was originally called. However, centigrade also has other meanings. The term Celsius has replaced Centigrade because it's unambiguous; it only means one thing.
