I think this is a good thing. Alot of Americans cling to this ideal that we can change the world. and that the world must follow are example. But the truth is look how many years it took us to get to where we are. is america perfect no. But little changes over generations bread better things more human rights. I mean it took america how many years to allow women to vote. Change does not happen overnight. and yes it could be better but lets take a moment to reflect that this is a good change. And commend them. I think a lot of people will say no there not perfect yet. well no one is and we are striving at it one day at a time.

I agree TM. It is a small first step. Next would be to let them get their driver's licenses.
I expect the King and Princes will get a lot of flack over this issue in such a conservative country. Imagine if they made huge changes overnight and women were allowed to be total equals in everything. You would have every conservative male in the country pulling an Osama Bin Laden against the government.

They could as there's no minimum age to marry in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s religious leader, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Asheikh, has said that he does not plan to restrict the minimum age for marriage for women to 15 years, contravening a recent proposal from the country’s Ministry of Justice.
In an interview with the Al Riyadh, reported by the Saudi Gazette, the Grand Mufti described the marriage of girls below that age as “permissible”.
The issue is a controversial one both inside and outside Saudi Arabia, where the Ministry of Justice two years ago submitted a proposal to limit the marriage age of women to 15 years old. In 2011, the kingdom’s Shoura Council was also reported to recommend the introduction of an age limit, but nothing concrete has been heard since.
The report quoted a source in the Ministry of Justice, which said that its new proposal planned to transfer the power to marry under-age girls from a marriage official to a Sharia court judge, and that marriages could only be approved with the consent of both the girl and the girl’s mother.
