*yawn*

Mother Jones wrote:... the United States inked another giant arms deal with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday. This one was for more than 10,000 advanced air-to-surface munitions like laser-guided bombs, "bunker buster" bombs, and MK84 general purpose bombs—which the Saudis have been raining down on Yemen since March.

Wall Street Journal wrote:Saudi officials have asked the U.S. to provide air tankers to refuel planes taking part in bombing Houthi forces in neighboring Yemen—and for more American-made bombs to continue with the strikes, the officials said.

Agence France Presse wrote:At least 10 air strikes carried out by a Saudi-led coalition in Yemen broke the laws of war and killed civilians, Human Rights Watch alleged on Friday. Washington has given strong diplomatic backing to the Saudi offensive and earlier this month approved a $1.29bn sale of bombs to renew its ally's arsenal.

The Intercept wrote:ā€œThe Saudis and their American bombs are erasing us from history.ā€

The annihilation of Yemen’s cultural heritage extends far beyond air raids on the famous ancient skyscrapers of the northwestern highlands; other areas of the country’s pre-Islamic history have also fallen victim to the coalition’s bombing.

Washington Post wrote:Yemen spiraled further into chaos on Wednesday night, with a Saudi Arabia-led Arab coalition launching a military intervention marked by airstrikes by dozens of fighter jets and the deployment of thousands of ground troops and tanks on its Yemeni border. The Saudi military is equipped with billions of dollars in advanced American-made weapons.

Vice wrote:When a missile strike slammed into a residential complex in Yemen's capital Sanaa on May 1, it killed at least 20 civilians and made wreckage of their homes.

But there was also something else — a flat scrap of metal that provided a clue as to the origins of the blast. It was the tailfin of a GBU-24 Paveway-III Enhanced laser-guided bomb, manufactured in the United States by the Massachusetts-based company Raytheon.

Jesus freaking Christ Jgordon, the US provides Saudi Arabia billions of dollars in military aid. A $60 billion deal in 2012 alone. In the last ten years the US has provided over $90 billion in military aid to Saudi Arabia. Even a cursory investigation into the matter would show you that.

Without the US Saudi Arabia would fold in no time and the House of Saad would be run straight out of the country if they were lucky. If they got unlucky they'd find themselves on the wrong end of a long rope in short order...

Oh good freakin' Lord. Here - from the website of the U.S. Department of State -

Since March 2015, the U.S.-trained Saudi military has used U.S.-origin weaponry, U.S. logistical assistance, and shared intelligence to carry out strikes in Yemen.

Why does anyone have to provide links to you? Simply google-
Saudi Arabia Yemen War
and read all about it yourself. The Saudi's are being very brutal in that war. It is well documented that Saudi Arabia has bombed refugee camps and hospitals. Its war, and it ain't pretty lemme tell ya.

You should also note, this all started back in 2011 and is part of the so called "Arab Spring" movement. You know, the same Arab Spring that Saudi Arabia call terrorists but in Syria it's Assad killing his own people. Apparently, the Arab Spring in Yemen is terrorists as well.

Of course no one is calling for the House of Saud to step down in Saudi Arabia and is trying reinstall the former president of Yemen but Assad "has to go". Hahahaha! Hypocrisy 101.

Yes patches I am aware that the us backs Saudi, and you are correct if we stopped Saudi royals would be finished, and in case you didn't know it that would f' america.
My point is and has been alot of b.s. reports no documentation from all sides, I am also aware of military equipment in the hands of Saudi the first of which my division 3ad left in place at kkmc when we left, to return to Germany and disbanded, so an entire division of apc, abrahms tanks, humvees etc just left there, so yes I am very aware of our backing of Saudi royal family, better than most posting here, yes pissant I am talking about you not patches.

And you do realize at first both Saudi and Yemen were fighting the hath together, then as usual it all went to hell over tribal differences, don't be sad for either side they have been doing this for thousands of yrs and no end in sight, and don't ask others to take sides in a forever war and hope for sympathetic audience's for either of them. My only sympathy is for children who don't understand why daddy or mommy is killed by a tribe they know nothing about, in a war that started so long ago no one remembers who or why it started.

Just imagine it started over a camel, goats, or a patch of sand, would it be worth it? If someone knows why it all started step forward and speak I want to know what was so important that even children are still dying today because of it.

Why do you think that?

I know that's the current prevailing theory but I am truly curious why you think it would f*ck the US.
You know, the US receives virtually zero oil imports from Saudi Arabia, right? We don't need Saudi oil. So can you explain exactly how it would f*ck us?

BTW, the US receives most of its oil imports from Canada and Mexico.

Oh, I'd like to note, jgordon, that if any of my posts seemed harsh toward you, it was not my intention. I can have a discussion with you somewhat. Bernie Sanders, not so much.....

It was a Yemen civil war. Saudi Arabia took a side, Iran took a side.

Very much like Syria if I'm not mistaken. The US has picked a side to, what do you think of that?

For my part, it is a disgrace to my country because civil wars are bad enough but when you get the US involved things just get much, much bloodier. Not to mention, what gives us (the US) the right to decide who runs a country on the other side of the world?

In the US' own civil war, one of the first things Lincoln did was to war the European nations to stay out of it. Lincoln found an unlikely ally in that effort, Russia. Few don't realize it but there was a Russian flotilla stationed in San Francisco for the duration of the US civil war. The Czar of Russia was prepared to fight on the side of Lincoln not against the south but against any European powers that tried to intervene in the US civil war.

True story.

It certainly has nothing to do with Arabs fighting over goats because "that's just what they do." Good lord.

jgordon1111's analysis of the causes of war -

    Northern Ireland:
    "A Protestant spilled a Catholic's whiskey."

    Rhodesia:
"The whites were mad the blacks were playing their rap music too loud."

    Korea:

It was a split, a schism in Islam when the Prophet Muhammad died. A disagreement on who should be Caliph, Abu Bakr or Muhammad's cousin and son in law Ali should be the Caliph. The one side became the Sunnis and the other side became the Shias. Various subsects splinter off and before long they are all fighting each other.

Not too unlike the Catholic schism to be honest. The Muslims have just been at each other's throats ever since where as the Christian sects more or less learned to live along side each other for the most part.

Hell, President Bush didn't know the difference between Shia and Sunni when he declared his crusade. You're in appropriate company. Saxi, like those who mocked Dubya's grasp of foreign policy, is likewise.
