NEED HELP!!!!

Postby debra79 on Thu May 31, 2007 6:42 pm

Hi, for one of my classes I'm studying this semester, I have to give a 4 minute talk on something I'm passionate about, a hobby or something I like to do.

Judging from the types of people in my class, I don't think a 4 minute talk on CC would interest them...for the most part, they're "boring accountant types" and basically computer illiterate

So I'm sending out an SOS to all my comrades to help me come up with something funny I can talk about or demonstrate (nothing sexual please  ) for four minutes.

I can make a 4 minute speech about the famous acronym, GFY, but I am just too lazy.

I knew it was a humoungous mistake to have that stupid joke told to such an immature and tasteless person as yourself.

on-topic: Talk about your 'passion' about the controversy of the existence of the lock ness monster. Despite being coincedentially an unfortunate rip off of Napolean Dynamite, just a couple days ago, a photograph was taken that 'proves' loch ness exists. check around on yahoo for it.
I dunno, you could make that interesting i think.

Talk about the amazement that is computers, such as Intel's 4 bit processor.

Thanks for your constructive idea, rig, when I was younger the mystery of the Loch Ness was actually of interest to me...but how is someone taking a picture of "Nessie" a rip from Napoleon (which, incidentally is one of THE most retarded movies I've ever seen!)? The Loch Ness mystery has been around for more than 1500 years, Napoleon just a few short ones :P

hecter: how can anyone be passionate about Intel, especially with their ridiculous advertising campaigns on television?

And as for unriggable: If I were you, I'd wait till I hit puberty before I started telling jokes. By then you might actually be able to understand half the drivel that comes out of your mouth/keyboard, and hence think twice about what you say/type. That is by far the most revolting joke I've ever heard.

I see that you are not a computer hardware geek. Well then, I will just say that a bit is a single binary digit, and that the processor I mention was one of the first. Hence, it was a joke.

And no, I'm not a computer hardware geek. I haven't actually ever met any females that are. Computers to me are a necessary evil.

I've noticed that all you do is troll the forums looking for any way to add your two cents worth of spam...how about using those brains for good and helping me come up with something I can actually use as a speech topic?

Well, unfortunately, I don't got much for you. I could easily give you a serious topic to talk about, but in terms of funny…

Are you going for funny AND serious? Or just funny?

Well now, lets see… You could always talk about how fantastic things in Iraq are going, or perhaps how this guy is the end all and be all of science :D

Near the beginning of Napolean Dynamite, Napolean gets asked to present some sort of project that was due, and he went up and said a slightly amusing monologue about the Loch Ness Monster. Thats all.
Heres the link to the article + video clip on Nessie http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070601/ap_ ... ss_monster

and i agree whole heartedly with your statement to unriggable. I know him in real life, and he's a crazy weirdo.

this trick always works for me with speeches, and I think it works no matter how good/bad of a speaker you are, because I really suck with speech...it isn't funny, but like I said it always works. Talk about some kind of huge national/international tragedy, like I used Hiroshima (3 times  ). It is especially effective with the boring types, it capture their attention because it is so serious, and the teacher is less likely to give a bad grade because then they would seem so cruel...

oh wait you want something about a hobby?...uhh...you could say you study history as a hobby...I'm sure the boring accountants could relate...

ehh if you could somehow find a connection between historical tragedies and a hobby then you got an A right there

lol thanks for the tips, static. I'm not _that_ obsessed with how well I do, because it's not assessed as anything other than a pass or a fail.

And the trouble with talking about Hiroshima is that I have a couple of people in the class from Japan and it might be a bit too sensitive to talk about.

My trouble is that I'm a really good speaker (I never really shut up lol), but when you ask me to stand in front of the whole class and talk about one subject for 4 minutes, I find it extremely hard to do. I have many opinions on just about everything known to man ("typical female", I hear all you males roar), but it doesn't mean I can talk about them to a class for 4 minutes without someone debating with me on the other side

I know that Napoleon presented a story about "Nessie", but I was merely pointing out that you had it all backwards in who was ripping off whom :)

well it doesn't have to be hiroshima, just any kind of tragedy, think of something that won't offend anyone in your class...they could be as wide range as 9/11 or virginia tech, or even some kind of tragedy from australia, I don't know much about australian news but...anything that would catch their attention

why do I need to bring attention to America's character flaws? I'm pretty sure the US does a good enough job of doing that themselves under the loving guidance of George Dubya.
