The way those idiots are constantly doing it, I totally agree...plus the melted, burning rubber that comes off the tires makes and awful mess that sticks all over the wheelwells / quarterpanel. In the case of a vehicle like mine that is 6,500 pounds, automatic (new turbo 400, new HD torque converter, shift kit, new spicer posi and 410 gears), in an unloaded pickup (back end relatively light), it is actually easier for it to spin those 4 back tires than to move the vehicle  I built my motor by hand, so I do NOT sit there and redline it like those jackasses on TV that don't give a shit....I can spin the tires all day at 2,500 rpm with a little brake.

Any way, I'll quit harping.....if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to post a pic of my old girl....just painted her last summer (in my driveway...lol).

well in your case the whole thing makes sense... you need a big truck to load tons of stuff and to pull a boat... of course you need tons of power. what i don't understand, it's the guys who just try to install way too much power, much more than they actually need.
kind of like the idiots who instal tvs everywhere in the car, overpowered (and way too heavy) sound systems and all kind of crap that are just there to show off and that will not be actually used.
there is a scene here in europe, mostly belgium and northern france, where some hillbillies try to get the most decibels out of their sound system in their car... that is the ultimate car stupidity.

I likee horsepower....my streetbike has 150 at the tire and my old truck is pushing 550

can you really use those though? I think it's all about ballance. sure torque and horsepower are a big kick in the nut, but... if the car/bike is pretty undriveable at high speed I don't get the point.

I know that americans learned their lesson and now the new C6 (or was it C7?) vette was developped on the nurburgring and I heard very nice things about it. It's not just some undriveable junk with unlimited horsepower.

Because nothing gets you like when your stomach is left behind after you punch the throttle. Like, so much hp you do a wheelie just opening up. And your talkin' jive, man. My bike has about 145hp and she purrs along just fine at any speed and can corner like a motherfucker.

KoolBak wrote:Straight line baby....hell yes you can use it. 0 - 60 in under 4 seconds on my bike...10 seconds in my 3 ton, crew cab dually. And on long trips when I have 2,500 pounds of crap in the back of my truck and pulling a boat / trailer, I wanna be able to pass people up long steep mountain grades.....also doing smoky 4 tire rear burnouts and setting off car alarms is cool.....lol. I refuse to grow up. Stoopid Uhmerukin

I thought you rode a V-Max? I seem to remember my dad's doing 0-60 in about 2 secs. Heck, I could probably do it in 3 flat on mine.

TG....the specs say 2 and change but I can't do it....have tried at the local strip and the best I can lay down is 3 and change....think I need a drag slick and a wheelie bar to "max" out my time....lol. Have rejetted and have Kerker 2 / 2's...sounds like a little funnycar.....can't keep from tire spin / wheelie problems though 100 / 3rd gear :( Been riding for over 40 years but still, it's probably my skillset. What bike you ride? Pic is pre-Kerkers.....

Yep been following McLaren since the 1980's. For drivers I like Hamilton.

I have a strong dislike for Ferrari.

Mercedes are going to walk it this year though.

NASCAR is too contrived...they have cautions way way too much. And restrictor plate racing is an abomination...yet it's the most popular with casual fans of racing in the US.

Having raced (not well) both ovals and road courses in high speed Karts I can say that road course racing takes much more skill.

I'm happy that hamilton won the title last year, he deserved it much more than rosberg. Hamilton is an expert for bad luck, and his first half of the season was just BS. Rosber runing into him and blowing up his tire while rosberg can continue and hamilton has to get back in boxes... wtf.
By the way, I made a bet with a friend yesterday. I said that Bottas would win 2 grand prix this season. I've got a feeling that williams will be the second best car this season.
I mostly follow Grosjean. I just hope that the lotus this year with a mercedes engine will be performant. Last year's car was pure shit, there was nothing to do with it. In 2012 and 2013 he did very well with a lotus that was running well, 2014 was a catastrophy with a low budget lotus. He finished second a few times in 2012 and 2013, and was pretty close from winning his first race. Hope this year's car will let him compete with the best.

You're comparing karts to 900 HP nascars and F1 in order to judges skill level? Or perhaps I misread that....you're simply talking about skill levels required for racing gocarts.....ahhh....cool.

I forgot what a smart looking machine those are. My dad's had the carbon-fiber finish. Looked pretty slick.

I ride an 03 FZ1:

I should clarify I think my machine could do 3 flat. I would probably drag behind maybe somewhere between a half to full sec. It is something that requires some skill to really get a good start.

Sweet Ride tail....keep the shiny side up! ;) That's an oregon plate....think I recall you being here but, hey....nice ;o)

My sister in law had a newer bug I tried to sell for her (05?); that car was literally the cheapest, crappiest, plastic POS that I have driven in a long time....amazed me. We have an 03 jetta MK4 GLI and it is so much more solid and well put together....what happened with the germans and those bugs?

Haha, that's her better side. I laid her down about four years ago, so the fairing's a little scratched up on the other side and I've never gotten around to replacing it. Also I dumped it on the same side when I was practicing my wheelies once. And yep, in Corvallis.

Never got close or inside a new beetle. The body is in plastic???
The newer one that they changed last year looks pretty cool though.

Jetta-> not something sold in european markets. We kind of have them but they are redundant here. You either buy a golf or a more upmarket passat. A jetta is basically a golf with a 3 volume trunk... Which makes it big as a passat.

I started watching nascar F1 NHRA and Indy growing up.
I enjoyed NASCAR the most out of the 4, I watched all for years.

Now I mainly watch NASCAR only, and pick up highlights for everything else.

I go to the Las Vegas race most years, tho this year I went to Daytona 500 instead.

Doesn't seem like much other NASCAR fans here so I'll leave it @ that :)

Tail...I remember now ;o)

Ice..Sweet....I wish there was a track near me....too bad about the winner on Daytona (cant stand that kid  ) but it was a good race...had plans to meet a buddy I met here at CC (with whom I became very good RL friends) at a race and party but he was tragically killed a couple years ago (RIP Buck :( ) and have never made plans again...none of my friends are into racing at all....lol.

Beti- Passat is bigger than the Jetta http://www.differencebetween.net/object/auto-object/difference-between-jetta-and-passat/

NHRA is the national Drag Racing governing body.....speaking of drags (which I love....go figger)....a buddy is totally into that and has a blown alcohol 69 nova an a couple rails....took me for a ride in the nova once (1,500 horsepower)....when he finally stood on it for like 3 seconds, I honestly thot the world had come to an end or that there had been some catastrophy...I remember about a second of those 3...f*ck ME RUNNING....the most horrendous sound / sensation I have ever been thru.....so cool

I simply can't imagine the top fuelers with 3,000 HP....

Oh, and Larry Spiderman McBride (fastest motorcycle in the universe) had a KoolBak sticker on his fairing for 2 seasons :D

yes I know it's slightly bigger, also mostly in the higher segment in terms of pricing.
Nevertheless, this is due to the difference in terms of market. In europe we need smaller cars as the parking spaces are much smaller in big cities and it's a nightmare to park a sedan.
Most european small cars that are marketed in foreign markets with a design change, converting them into sedans when they were not in the first place. In all third world countries, owning a sedan is a symbol of social status, something that isn't true in Europe. It is always strange when we go to other continents and we see a sedan version of one of our cars... they mostly look hideous as they are the original car with an added trunk done iin the aftermath.
The US market is a bit different as you guys have tons of space and you are used to much bigger cars, owning a sedan isn't about social status, it's practical. American cars up to the 70s were just dramatically huge. You guys wouldn't buy a golf... too small. The golf has been the most sold car in europe in the past 30 years or so. It's just the right size for here. Te new jettas are not such a copy paste of a golf with a trunk as they used to be. I don't know if you know what they looked like before, but it was the exact same thing with a trunk (they just changed the round headlights to square ones).
