Hello there, forum wizards
I played here for a while some years back. Mostly flat rate or no spoils pretty standard maps. I did ok, and had some good fun - but eventually i got bored, didn't renew my premium, and stopped playing. A while back a friend of mine inspired me to give it another go. Joined a couple of games, but already loosing interest again - not doing to well might be part of it, of course, but also the neccessity of checking in every day for months isn't really my thing. So, i thought i might buy me a pack of speed games in the store! Over to the store i went and... wait... what? How does this work? 180C for 10 speed games. C? What? C...
I don't get this. The store is confusing, the currency system is confusing, the site is - compared to a couple of years ago - confusing. Whats the deal with supposedly letting me "buy" a pack of speed games for 180C, if i at first have to buy 500C for 7$? Not only does the extra step make things enough complicated for me that my gut feeling says 'F**k it, it ain't worth it', but it makes me feel that i don't understand what it is that i'm buying and to what purpose.
Why would i want to buy conquer credits for real money, and 'redeem' for a 'Box of 5 orange stars'? What am i supposed to do with all these stars? What's the purpose of all these nonsense items in my inventory? Why do i need an inventory? I honestly have no idea! It is probably well explained in som sort of guide hidden somewhere deep in the click-click-forest, but honestly - i don't want to spend hours reading up on bonus systems and credits and guides - and i do absolutely not want to spend hours clicking around not knowing where to look.
When i joined in 2009 (?) things where pretty straight forward. Right now, i have no idea where to find an easy guide on how things work, i'm not sure there is one, and honestly; few people have the energy to look.
I don't mean to whine, even though that is probably what i'm doing. What i want to have said, is that a site needs to be pretty simplistic for people to like it and enjoy spending time there. This site currently isn't. Stars? Don't get them at all, probably don't need them. Conquer credits? Don't see the purpose. Game and site guide? Staying far away, it's a big mess and what is where to be found is a great mystery. All the current game options? Fun, but needs structure - it's a mess. Nothing is obvious on this site, unfortunately, and site design is all over the place. It makes me feel unintelligent.
And, oh: Subscription?! Monthly subscriptions is ok, quarterly as well - but yearly? That's ripping people off. Many will have forgotten this when the automatic renewal kicks in, and some will not have understood that it's automatic at all. Yearly subscriptions is a great way of making people pay without realising it, but it's never been a good way of generating satisfied customers - and it never will be. Up the cost on the yearly if there is need of it, but don't make it a subscription. I can see myself paying up a one time cost, but i will never subscribe.
Agree? Disagree?
