nibbling

Postby riskllama on Fri Jan 09, 2015 12:43 am

i'm in a game and truced up with another player. 5-6 turns in i notice one of my stacks is a wee bit smaller than it should be. i call him on it and he admits that yes, he has been "nibbling" at it to keep it close/fair or some such bullshit. i tell him do it again, truce is over. is this "nibbling" @ stacks whilst in a truce a common practice? i've had a few instances where i thought it may be happening but wasn't sure. this would fall under 'cheap tactics", in my book. discuss...

its only cheap tactics if you get caught. i will nibble if there is another player visible to nible. i just make sure to leave the stack that i nibbled with at the same number of armies. i mainly do this to try and get the two guys to start fighting.

but i would never just come out and admit that i was "nibbling" under truce. thats just not how diplomacy works.

"nibbling" is not generally part of respecting a truce. But truces are not binding or enforceable... so it doesn't surprise me that someone would do this. Good for your for calling him out on it.. now you know you can't really quite trust the guy.. up to you what to do from there :) Diplomacy is shaky in a game of risk... betrayal happens, that's not really what they're talking about when we call something 'cheap tactics'. That's just part of the game.

Nibbling is not generally accepted as part of a truce. It is often accepted, however, as part of foreplay.
