PM Box Size

This has been a question of mine for sometime. Why is our PM box so small? What's w/ the oppression?



we get 50 messages per. Normal per capita is what? 16 KB x 50 messages is 800k? To be honest.... when my dead great grandmother passes gas... it's at least 900k. So 900k x 10300 users, we're talking about between 10 and 11 gigs? Okay, let's just round it up a touch and say 4 terabytes.. you get my point. that gang, is about $500 of rackspace... for infinitity. (actually not sure who's hosting or self hosting but whatevs)

Our little operation has about 175 terabytes in this day in age. Of course, we're in a completely different biz to perhaps i'm biased. And i can live w/ that.

I would prefer to have another 500k of space to get a 2nd or 3rd page.

I'm sure there are reasons unannounced to the public but the whole thing is a bit like the twilight zone. especially considering my little operation has about 175 Terabytes offline and about 50 online.

I'm gonna chalk it up to "we don't have enough time or resources to let you guys keep your private messages for 2-3 weeks" "we just don't" and that's okay. "there's other business avenues that we're working on". i get that btw. except perhaps we should get a phone call once in awhile.

Actually, I was thinking Suggs.... although the OP is phrased as a question, it seems to be more of a suggestion.

Zip it over to Suggs if you want- however, you can also create 5 more folders for an extra 250 message spaces. That should be more than sufficient.

those extra boxes is where i keep all of my ridiculous responses from Admins/Moderators, from back in the day... some of them are so absolutely ridiculous, they have to be read to even be remotely believed...-el Jesus negro

lol. yeah, thought about Q & A and Suggestions. figured i'd get more of a response here. Wasn't actually looking to change anything cuz it is as it be.... or so it seems right now.

I remember having 2 pages of PMs... I even deleted all my folders just in case i was crazy. No dice... still one page. Whatevs. space is tight. I have approx. <1 meg.

50 is default, some mods and admins get more...

But like already suggested,you can create 5 extra folders in your own current inbox and that will give you a total of 300 messages.

As for moving the thread, if it upsets anyone that much I will move it, but the 4 or 5 mouse clicks involved is effort right now

You can change the settings to delete your oldest PM when you get a new one as well.

the sad thing about Dan Hill... aside from looking like one of the Geico neanderthal's (i say that lovingly about his hair and facial hair), is the fact that he sounds like a white man when he sings... i never ONCE in my life thought this song was sung by a black men... not once... EVER... then again, he is canadian... and then again, i do know who he is... so sad...
