I'm in a game with 2 people who reckon that their games are always RT, and somehow i'm expected to know this! i got a pm from one telling me to take my turn and then when i next checked the game chat, apparently i should have read it in live chat, which would be fine if i had joined the game through chat, but i didnt, apparently i'm gonna get neg feedback from 1 or both of them, if i cheated, missed turns had alliances or deadbeated i wouldnt care, but to say i'm getting neg feedback for nothing other than i'm not a mindreader seems like sh!t to me, i played over 200 games, and have 100% pos feedback, have tried to explain its not my fault they didnt make the game password protected-which is the only way to set up an RT game (at the mo anyhow). I am one unhappy bunny!
Anyone else think this is a fair reason to give neg?

If they leave you neg feedback i'd pm wicked , they have already stated they would leave it for you not playing rt which imo is bullshit considering your not to know. I'm sure she would probs remove it if you explain and ask nicely :)

I have also joined games not realizing that they are RT, because I wasn't in the chat...

The maker of the game, is a idiot for not making it a private game. They have that option.

Make sure you leave them a negative that says that they make RT games, that are not private. Then maybe people will not join the games with them, so they don't have to get harassment from them, when they innocently find out it is a RT.

if they aren't prem and can't set up their own private then they are running the risks and deserve the consequences. simple as.

if you get neg then its unwaranted provided you continue to play now and aren't rude etc

You did nothing wrong. The same thing has happened to me, but instead of leaving me negative feedback they ganged up on me and eliminated me from the game.

If they leave negative feedback for you about this I'm confident wicked will remove it for you if you ask her.

If someone wants an rt game at the current time the onus is entirely on him to make sure that all the other players agree to that. One way is by making the game private. It can be done with a public game, but they have to be very careful (drop out when someone they don't know and therefore probably not party to the rt agreement joins the game). The burden is on them, not the innocent player who joins an open game. Hopefully, games can be marked as RT in the future.
Cheers,

It's there fault not yours. If they made an rt without a password then they are morons.

thanks for all the support, really appreciate it, hopefully it wont come to neg feedback...i hope. (I have also suggested previously about making RT an option on the game start/finder list, so agree with the earlier poster about it,) apparently the guys i'm playing with dont have prem memberships, and I dont really understand why, i love the site and paid my "bucks" so i at least have the option to set private games when i feel/have time to play RT, hope these oppo's buy theirs and then there will be no more mistakes.
Thanks again guys. :D

I am not premium, I often make some rt's, so I am a moron?

It happened that someone else came in the game, and the game didn't end up rt. I nevr complained, try to ask them to stay if they could, and if they couldn't well too bad. Never I did think a second of leaving them neg.

For your case, no getting a neg is not justified, if you do, you can get it removed like some people said on here. If they team up against you to take you out for that reason, you can leave them neg feedback for that ;)

Frankly, I'm leaning towards "yes." If you are soliciting players for RT play with a game# and then ensnare an unaware participant because there was no password - you might take the reasonable path you stated, however the other players that joined your game with RT in mind deservedly will get frustrated because psychologically they didn't make that bargain up front.

So unless you are making EVERY effort to just join RT games that premiums start (with a password), you are indeed a moron because you are disregarding the obvious consequences of your actions.

actually I think you are the moron for caring how his business is run. I used to make non-pw protected RT games, but I knew there were possibilities that it might become stale because a person who thought it was non-rt joined.

Anyone who joins a non-PW protected game is fully aware of the possible negative results that are possible. Does that make them a moron? If no one can make a PW protected game then does that make them morons?

If you were in a desert and needed something to drink or you might die you are willing to drink water that may not be sanitary. If you really wanna play a RT game and no one can Pass word protect it, then you will hope for the best. I don't see your qualm with people disregarding consequences. You self regulating Jerk. I don't think you have the job of telling people that the way they perform legal gaming activities is anyway a reflection of their intelligence.

freezie asked a legitimate question and he got a legitimate answer. He said he often creates (and presumably solicits others to join) RT games without a password. On its face, such a statement represents someone setting up others to the risk of:

#1 players joining the game who have no knowledge that the others really wanted a RT game and facing a hornets nest of disappointed players

#2 disappointing players joining a RT game, when there's no reasonable assumption that it will turn out to be RT - GC is absolutely correct that they shouldn't have any expectation - but nonetheless the situation is a disappointment

And, freezie, what I'm saying to you in as constructive as possible manner - and any other freebie players - is that when you start and solicit for others to join your password-less RT game, you are potentially creating a real and frequent (judging from the forums) problem. Just own up to that fact. If you acknowledge and own that risk fine, you are not a moron whatsoever. But, if you don't see your role in fostering a problem for others, then you are a moron, as you asked.

IF you want to start a private game, and can't, then have someone who has a premo membo do it.

That is one of the benefits of having a premium membership... If no one who wants to play RT has a pemo, Then thats to bad. cough up the 20 bucks, so you can have the extra benefits.

It happened to me before. I explained what happened, apologised profusely, they forgave me and I won the game :D

Ummm. Apparently i get flamed when i dont check these forums. To start. People shouldnt be attacked for not pwing games. Not their fault that cant afford/dont need to pay 20$ to have a good time. It is also not their fault when someone joins there game not knowing it was a rt. I pmed him to inform him it was his turn. I did not know he didnt know it was a rt, i thought he might be in another rt game and might get it. I was wrong. From the games ive played, people do that.

Secondly. We (me and the other guy) got annoyed that he was a dead beat. Is this our fault? Is this offensive in any way? I dont understand how we are being attacked for it. We are aloud to express our displeasure at him not being there in any way we please to a point, as the rules state. I didnt think there would be a big stink from me and the host showing our displeasure at it not being a rt. We do take the risk, but we are still allowed to gripe about it if it fails. Ask any gambler. They know they can lose money, but they can still complain if they lose it. People are aloud to complain. Deal with it.

Thirdly. Attila never apologized. Period. He started by saying how it was our fault he joined and messed up the rt. I know, it wasnt pw;ed, we take the chance that it might be gotten by someone who thinks its a normal game. This does not, in any way, mean its our fault. He never apologized, which i feel was in order. Every other game i played when someone accidentally dead-beated a un-pwed rt game, they apologized. Attila never did. He posted this instantly, instead of trying to apologize to try to patch things up. He just put the blame on us for him not knowing. I know, he made a honest mistake, but even an honest mistake means he needs to take the blame, not transfer it to people who were trying to have a fun game. The host posted it in live chat. I, personally, check the live chat before joining normal games to make sure im not being a dead beat to any rts. I care whether or not i effect others games. Apparently, from what i hear, im the only one who cares enough to take the 15 seconds it takes. Odd that.

I take this hypocrisy as evidence supporting RobinJ's point. Complete acknowledgement that you got the ball rolling on the situation - and complete inability to assume any blame. Do you not see that?
