My understanding is that in later versions, D&D changed it so that Paladins could be good, neutral or even evil as long as they were lawful.

As far as my role, my role can be proven without contest pretty much at any time.

Not killer, but it's a day action. It would be best to use it after I know what Rodion claims but at this point, well it's probably a moot point.

Illyriel Falconsight, JOAT N/G Half-Elf Druid

I have 2 tracks, 1 watch, 1 BP and 1 doublevote.

Like BP (which is an active ability you use for 1 night and is wasted if you don't get shot), doublevote works basically like a NA. I decide I'll use it during the night and then it is unlocked for the following day.

N1 - Track Aage (visited TFO)
N2 - Track Neb (visited Commander)
N3 - BP

I have both a watch and a doublevote left (in a normal game, I'd have watched Yoshi after his claim, but circumstances here made that uninteresting as he was more likely to be killed by MoB or another chaotic fellow than mafia).

Now I have some questions of my own.

@TFO - can you tell us why you thought Rishaed was telling the truth yesterday?

@Spiesr - what did Dazza learn D2 and what are your 3 D4 options? (it's a massclaim, so no information should be kept concealed - while I'm at that, you might as well mention the 2 D2 spells Dazza didn't pick)

@TWO - so you can basically kill 4 alignment combos. If that is a day power like Yoshi's, we can easily confirm you. Is it?

Finally, Strike's claim is the fishiest considering 3.5 still required paladins to be L/G, but since he claimed he can easily confirm himself anytime, we might as well wait for that to happen and possibly narrow down our scumpool.

Also sorry for the major delay, but life has been hectic the past 10 days or so. I'm pretty inactive at my other mafia game, I'm missing a good ammount of CC turns as well and I'm barely getting any sleep. >.<

It is a nightkill, only.

And that wraps up everyone...All seem solid enough, but that was probably made easier by the janitor.

On a side note: It is possible for a paladin to be any alignment except for Lawful Neutral [it's possible that I'm just missing one, though]. Going strictly off of 3.5 [as per the original post], there are class variants. From Unearthed Arcana: Paladins of Freedom [CG], Tyranny [LE], and Slaughter [CE]. [pg 53-54]. From Dragon Magazine: Incarnate [N] [#310, pg 53], Corrupter [NE] [#312, pg 24], Anarch [CN] [#310 pg 47], and Sentinel [NG] [#310 pg 50]. That being said, there are two points: one is that dragon magazine is very debatably canon. The other is that we can't use the books as a basis for arguments. Green dragons -according to the 3.5 Monster Manual- are always lawful evil. I'm not complaining; I'm simply stating that we are unable to use that as grounds for a lynch.

If you actually read through that bit of drivel: =D>

Okay, it is too late in my timezone for me to give any significant response to anything so I just want point out the Strike Wolf and Rodion have claimed characters with last names that are too similar.

If I remember correctly, the main part I believed was the fact he was N/N (Or a N/(L/N/C) combination). I can't exactly say I believed his Commuter claim, but it partially ran along with my role (Driver). It didn't truly come up results, mainly a self preservation role. His class was close to mine as well, which was Human Bard while i'm a Halfling bard.

Guess I believed it was because it seemed like a good claim (Well, a good fakeclaim in retrospect).

So, Rodion can't use his doublevote today? He has to order it the night before? Too bad he can't prove that ability right now. Although, I suppose proving someone's abilities is different than proving alignment.

The same goes for SW. My gut reaction is not to believe his alignment and role combination. I don't know what power could prove his alignment unless the scene contains some flavor.

I don't know. For some reason, I think that either SW and/or Rodion are not what they say they are. I don't like how they went missing right in the middle of a mass claim like that. Rodion claimed RL issues, but Strike didn't give any reason for such a long delay.

You bring an interesting point. We've already used 3.5 rules as grounds for what ended up being a mislynch (a sorcerer having to prepare spells, in case anyone forgot).

@Epitaph - massclaim time is inherently prone to "claiming last shenanigans" (especially from mafia-aligned people that are afraid to risk a fakeclaim and get counterclaimed). That is why I specifically suggested a method that would solve that problem. It's called popcorn claiming (hope this link works, as I can't check it from work: https://www.google.com.br/url?sa=t&rct= ... 3115,d.eW0 ). The irony here is that I only got the "suspicion" of having claimed last because nobody acknowledged my suggestion. At this point I just hope that my inactivity in Fircoal's game + my missed CC turns (I can get links if needed) will demonstrate that I was actually busy and not scummarining.

Right now I'm waiting for Strike's confirmation and Spiesr's spells, then we can possibly try to build a plan to see through the fakes.

Alright here are some things:
  1. Nobody claimed the orc from the scenes, not surprising since killing aage pretty much paints her as evil. So there must be at least one fake claim. We also haven't seen any Lawful Evil people yet, although I suppose there could maybe have been one in the ???s. Anyhow I since I am Lawful Neutral I don't have have any special quarrel with the remaining Evil alignment(s) (since chaotic evil is presumably gone) but Good seems to be the stronger force today so of course I will cooperate. So let's see what I can find.
  2. As I was getting towards last night I really doubt that edocsil put in a character with the last name Falconsflight and another with Falconsight. One of them is almost certainly fake Strike Wolf claimed first, so for Rodion to use that as a fake-name he would have to have not been paying attention to Strike Wolf's claim, which is possible although I don't know how likely.
  3. TWO, Mob has been almost certainly Chaotic Neutral since Day 2, why haven't you killed him? You can't win with him and his intent to kill the known Lawful Good Doom Yoshi was pretty clear despite his assertions otherwise. Sure his Bulletproof on Night 2 would have stopped you, but you didn't even try?
  4. anamainiacks, why did you not protect anyone last night? There were two pretty plausible good aligned claims on the table and you took no action as a bodyguard? And wouldn't you know it they both got killed.
  5. There seem to be too many Neutral Good claims. There are 3 people claiming that right now, 3 confirmed of that alignment dead, and gregwolf claimed it as well. Now since that alignment appears to be the closest thing to "Town" in this game I would expect it to be the largest alignment, but 6 or 7 players out in 19 in a 9 alignment game seems high.

In response to the question at me: I skimmed more than I'd like to admit, at first. I have since gone back through and read in full. As a result, I missed an opportunity. I'm not thrilled about it. 'Twas a wonderfully unintelligent blunder.

I just realized that I forgot you replaced Skillfusniper Night 3. So not going for the kill Night 2 was his fault, and I understand why you would be hesitant to make a move like that right when you replaced in.

Scene.

Daratris Falconsflight snuck behind a confused adventurer and slipped a gag around his mouth. He had many years ago sworn a vow of nonviolence, so gagging his opponent would have to do.

So there. Role proven. Yeah yeah big deal over not much, I know.

Anyways, this is part of the reason why I was upset with Doomyoshi and hinted that he disrupted my role's effectiveness. Assuming I lived long enough and the Chaos aligned had no fear of claiming, well I could tip the scales in Lawful's favor towards the end of the game.

Ebwop: Furthermore, I am tempted to agree that we have at least one too many Good/neutrals claimed. It's also curious that we have no Good/chaos claims in this game. Either we lawfuls got very lucky and they were wiped out with the janitored crowd or someone's lying about not being chaotic as well. For that matter it's even possible that two people are lying and are actually chaotic but if we assume that mafia cannot be recruited by cult, which is fairly standard as mafia getting recruited by cult tends to mess up game flow, two good/chaos lying about their roles would suggest that we have likely have 4 people fake claiming (A starting group of 3 mafia makes sense to me). An oddly high number, so I am inclined to think that at least one of the ??? marks was Good/Chaos.

Yes, there is a reason. Strike promised he had already sent his action to Edoc and that we only had to wait for him to post. You made no such promise (and you couldn't, since you claimed Edoc sent you all D1-4 lists right when you replaced).

Now that's a masterful preemptive OMGUS if I've ever seen one. I repeat 3 times that you still did not share all your information (DURING A MASSCLAIM) and instead of sharing it you decide to vote me before I can vote you? Do you think I'm letting N4 start before you can be held accountable? Think again.
