May Day

Postby Stopper on Tue May 01, 2007 12:35 pm

Given all the leftists and anarchists on this site, I thought I'd say a happy May Day to you all.

Also, pop quiz. May Day commemorates riots connected to a general strike in the late nineteenth century in a certain country. Which country?

Quote this post for the answer.

If you don't already know the answer, on finding it out, you might decide you never want to mark May Day in any way, shape or form...

We're celebrating Worker's Day here in SA.

Edit: Who cares? It's a public holiday. \:D/

Statutory holidays are nearly always on Mondays in UK, so it's not until next week for us ... :(

I know - that's why I specifically addressed weird political types. Mind, it hadn't occurred to me there'd be quite a lot of people in this forum off work today outside North America, so I should have wished them well too, but never mind.

We celebrate Cinco De Mayo instead of May Day here. And yes, I know, that's supposed to be Mexico's independance day, right? So why do Americans celebrate it? TO DRINK!!! BOOYAH!

"Tag der Arbeit here", literally: "Day of Work" (well, yesterday it was), and guess what. Noone was working. All that happened was that I got a sunburn.
