Nope.
It was a really incendiary act that inflamed the nation.

It's a wee bit pre-war, but still...

What did Marinus van der Lubbe do (or supposedly do  ) in Germany 1933 that lead to the banning of the German Communist Party?

No google or Wiki please.

Burnt down the lower house - the Reichstag one week before the elections (which the Nazis then had a landslide victory in - suspicious or what? - the Nazi bastards probably did it themselves  )

Set the Reichstag on fire. I think that was 1933, and it matches the clue of blaming the communists and making the Nazis popular.

There about 20 major reasons at least. Hitler split the Panzer divisions up, the allies tricked the Nazis into where they were going to land, they invaded under cover of darkness, they captured the vital bridges very quickly, the floating harbours provided huge amounts of artillery and resources very quickly, they had more soldiers, they flew a sorty of around 200 planes in support, the French resistance helped keep some troops away from teh front line etc, etc...

you forgot the main reason though...the american and british paratroopers that landed at about 0100 before the land assult. they compleated all their objectives before noon and theysurprised the germans by using their own taktics agsinst them(the geremans had paratroopers also)

they could have done without their policy of proportional representation though

Well, for anyone who still cares, you are right - I was too lazy to think of a truly difficult question.

the first defeat of the german army during the russian winetr...germany was put on the defensive. i think it was the time the germans tried to invade Stalingrad or advance to Moscow or something.

The battles in Russia? Hitler bit off far more than he could chew when he double-crossed the Russians and they turned their forces against him.

No German army was ever going to survive a war against acclimatised Russian soldiers on freezing Russian turf.

edit: damn, fastposted :x

I believe the technical answer to that was Hitler's refusal to allow Paulus to evacuate the Sixth Army from Stalingrad.
