Oh, I think this should be delved into. We need serious discussion about this!! Surely there is a deeper significance to how often people change their avatars.

Agreed, let's use Nietzsche as another example. His profile contains about 12 pictures of various famous girls, half naked of course. What would be a psychiatrist's prognosis?

Does my slave girl count as a sexually charged avatar? I've had everything from trees to animals, a trace of dna, landscapes, funny people, sexy people, fictional characters, politicians, pictures of myself and also no avatar. What does jumping around between avatars say about someone? And what does staying with the same for several years say? (andy, woodruff, lackattack etc)

Oh, you're not an oracle? Okay, sorry then. I'll have to turn to BBS for answers I suppose.

I can't speak for Andy or lack, but in my particular case, I'm pretty sure all it means is that I am a combination of boring and lazy.

Personally, I prefer when users stick to the same avatar. I like associating the person with their avatar; it helps me to visualize them in a weird sort of way, and, in a more practical way, to remember them!

As for me, I like mixing things up from time to time, but I still like having an image associated with me specifically. Something a bit more tangible than the general tone of my posts and my username. Thus, I tend to stick with different images of the same character. In my eyes, never changing avatars is representative of a more stable, dedicated type, while changing avatars frequently is representative of a more unstable, flighty character with fleeting desires.

It's interesting to note that more members of TeamCC stick to certain avatars than change them...

Maybe we "jumpers" just haven't found one image that we really like, or think represents us well enough. Maybe our refusal of staying with one image is a sign of deeper cognitive ability and deeper understanding of life and it's many flaws. Maybe we realize the patheticness of representing yourself with an image and chose to make fun of the process and the human minds silly attempt of judging someone that we've never met, by looking at his online avatar. Or maybe, just maybe, we like to piss people off a little.

You choose ;).

I was just making an observation but that's sweet of you to notice!
And not to knitpick but I was noting that the subject was dead, not the thread. ;)

I do agree that I like for people's avatars to remain the same unless of course I hated the first avatar to begin with (i.e. personally offensive). After all, if you change your avatar frequently it means less, doesn't it?
