How many innocent people has america killed? Isnt this government run by similar christians?
War is wrong. Dont try to give excuses for murder
I'd just like to say that these idiots are not similar to 99.99% of other christians.
Very true but al quida (sp?) are idiots who are not simular to 99.99% of other muslims
Their site has a bunch of images of American flags being flown upside down, and there's a load of British flags upside down on that essay someone just posted regarding Britain. It's seems to be a 'thing' for them. Don't know its relevance though.2dimes wrote:I did not watch and don't know if the guy is savvy to this but...Stopper wrote:EDIT: What's with the man flying the upside-down Canadian flag in the background?
Flying your own flag upside down was a signal of distress for the Canadian Military.
100 people vs the entirety of america wouldn't be much of a violent takeover. Even WBC aren't that stupid.spurgistan wrote:Yeah, it's kinda worth noting that nobody calls these jobs "Christian" except for themselves. Kinda like I would assume (don't know) that normal adherants to Islam don't call their whackos "Muslims", but take care to differentiate themselves. But re the "Why aren't we bombing Westoboro" question, seeing as these guys aren't much threat to anybody but themselves... if they attempted a violent takeover of the United States then of course, bomb 'em to oblivion, but these guys are harmless as long as we ignore them.

Well yeah, that was just sort of pointing out the main difference between these nutjobs and Al-Qaeda nutjobs, which is that these guys don't pose a threat, while Al-Qaeda (to degrees) does.

the scary thing for me is this: they contend that political or social allowance of homosexuality (i'm speaking loosely here) is to blam for almost all disasters or large-scale negative human events like war. how horrific is it that mainstream conservative christian leaders in the states aren't too far away from this? i think i remember jerry falwell saying that 9/11 was god's punishment on the US for abortion or homosexuality, and pat robertson saying the same types of things about the tsunami.
just another instance of deranged but too goddamn influential folks claiming god as a force for their agenda. it's like crazy, large-scale psychic projection: it makes me wonder if mr. phelps and his kin have some raging homos among their own numbers. why else would they be so obsessed w/ persecuting people?

I don't know if 9/11, Katrina or the Tsunami were "God's" wrath, warning or wake up call. Could any of them be? Absolutely. Are they? I don't know but to say that they absolutely weren't or couldn't be is just silly. Or at least shows a poor knowledge of scripture.

well, if you believe in a just god, which i assume you do, then you may want to condemn views that attribute mass deaths to god's hatred of any particular sin, or even a swath of sins. see, there are ostensibly plenty of folks killed in those incidents that did not endorse homosexuality, abortion, war, etc. yes, to talk in absolutes about such things might be silly, b/c an omnipotent god would presumably work in inscrutable ways. but leaving open the possibility of god's will in these events also allows him to be an unjust and hateful god.
in other words, the kind of god portrayed by westboro and their ilk. you are lining up with them, bud

Are you saying the United States is trying to systematically exterminate an entire race of people...that's what Hitler attempted to accomplish, amongst other things.
Who are you referring to by "we"?

And lest we forget, Hitler was actively trying to get rid of the Bible entirely and revive the old pagan beliefs of the German and Scandinavian peoples, due to the inherent semitic origin of scripture.

No he wasn't, he made it very clear in his speeches and his book that while he was using the Norse symbol for the sun (the swastika), it was not a return to the old ways.
