killed before round 1

Postby DiM on Thu Apr 19, 2007 4:36 pm

has anybody been killed before round 1?

here's what i was thinking.
6 player game sequential classic map unlimited forifications. a really common game type. probably the most common.

each player gets 7 terits.
let's say player 6, let's call him JOE gets the following territories:
western australia+indonesia
peru+brazil
madagascar+egypt
alberta

turn 1.
*player one has eastern australia new guinea and siam. he takes out JOE in australia and indonesia. very possible because he has 9 troops in the vicinity and 3 reinfs. he must take him out because JOE might put his reinfs here and spoil his continent.
*player two has venezuela and argentina and kills JOE in brazil and peru
*player three kills him in madagascar and egypt because he has 3 other terits in africa and he wants it
*player four misses turn :P (neg feedback)
*player five kills JOE in alberta. no reason just fun.

a very doable scenario. this could also prove to be a very good tactic in a game where the first 5 players are privates and player 6 is a general. just kill the highest ranked.

So what you're saying is you want General JOEecide. Am I correct?

i'm just curious if this ever happened. i don't want it because it spoils the fun for the unlucky guy.

this almost happened to my 2 hour ago while playing with my friends on the real boardgame.

after the first 4 players took their turns i was down only one teritory. fortunately the fifth guy had no armies near me so he could not take me out.
i was eliminated in round 2.

Forgive me for nit picking, but I don't believe the scenario you are describing counts as "before round 1" but rather "during round 1" or "before that player's first turn"

it's before joe's turn so yeah it's during round 1

why i just told you this almost happened to me and people had no intention to do so.

in most of the games the initial deployment places you to border all the other players. if they all decide to go ahead and kill you they could do it.

i just searched for games with 6 players on classic map.
this the first game found:
http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=376581

look at player 6.
he has:
japan
mongolia
siberia
ukraine
middle east
congo
central america

red kills him in middle east and ukraine. he has enough power to do it.
green kills him in central america
blue in japan
yellow in mongolia and siberia
light blue in congo.

bam player 6 is dead. totally possible if the first 5 players really want to.

and very probable especially if you get your armies in the way of the others.

PS: the funny thing is that in my example player six is the highest ranked  i hope i don't give them any bad ideas :P

yeah you're right, well just imagine he is sixth :)
or better imagine a scenario where green guy gets owned.

I don't get that game...

For the first round there are logs for Red Green Blue... how come?

Shouldn't it have been interspersed?
Red - Yellow - Green - Cyan - Blue - Pink?

It's an old game, from back when teammates got back to back turns instead of alternating.

what you just decribed is what happens when a colonel or above joined a terminator game when they first came out.

Only time I've actually been eliminated before my first turn is during the battle royal map.

Which is precisely why high ranking players don't play standard games anymore.....now if we had an option to play annonymouse games.....

I play a lot on the Risk board and NEVER have been set up where I could be eliminated the first round. Even if you set up to take Euro. and are easy to hit it rarely makes sense to kill someone the first round unless you broke the first rule of Risk which is don't try and be a global police.

Please explain what happened. Maybe your friends are just dirt bags!

Maybe more doable if the guy/girl killed in round 1 plays his first game (having to start the game aswell) attacks everyone full out leaving only 1's (in doing so pissing everyone off a bit?) And then everyone hits him to grab a continent or an easy card.

Not even worth killing cos he doesnt have a card or maybe he did win some dice so this could explain the las man/woman to take a turn to kill him an easy card + 1 extra.

But no ive never seen something like that :)

no actually i was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
i had east and west australia (actualy on my board game it's west australia and queensland) and another player had indonesia and papua. he put his troops there and kicked me to get australia.

i had 2 in africa kicked also by another guy.

my wife killed me in peru (i almost resisted there)

now i was left with 1 terit in asia (irkutsk) and one in Nort Am. (central america)

player four killed me in central america, because he also had venezuela (colombia in my board game) and wanted to infiltrate in south am.

and fourtunately player 5 had no armies near irkutsk, because i'm sure he would have tried to kill me just for fun.

my turn came and i tried attacking for a card. 6vs3 battle i lost all and did not manage to conquer and in the second turn i had only 4 armies. easy as pie for player one who had more troops then me to take me out :(
