I think if you could, you would. No offense but it's easy to slag these guys for cheap tactics, which they undoubtedly engage in, but the truth of the matter is you still have to be good to win that much. Whether it's Blitz dominating Pelo War or Herpes slamming City Mogul, every Conqueror we've had can flat out play. Are there better players that haven't made conqueror? Sure, josko.ri, Master Fenrir, Chariot of Fire, Rodion, etc all fit that bill. But don't kid yourself that anyone can do it.

completely agree, not saying it is easy to make it to conqueror using cheap tactics, but i'm sure a lot of players could do it if they really wanted to. And the names you mentioned are the best players on the site, but being brillant at team games won't get you enough points.

Just want to know how many players think they could get to Conqueror if they really tried or wanted to. Also how many players think they will someday make it to Conqueror,and it's just a matter of time

(I personally know I will never get close unless I use the methods of GLG or rabbiton, which I am not willing to do)

been there and done it twice. 1st time was prior to the "conqueror" rank being created. Really have no interest in doing it a 3rd time.

Could I? Yes, been there done that. . .but

Warning: a LOT of BS and aggravation comes with it. If you play by rules, people challenge the rules. If you focus on one map, someone complains. If you play team games, others complain. No pleasing everybody -- and particularly a vocal group of 30-50 peops that think the world revolves around their opinion.

next new conquerer: Braddy - currently in 3rd; has been coming up strong in score; sets up tons of trips games
Up and coming possible Conquerors: Lanyards and/or NoSurvivors -- IF they concentrate and chose to have less fun. Oh, and Josko.ri and MC etc., if they wanted to, could easily wipe my score up.

After Conqueror?: Emperor, just like on Starwars. . . Or Caesar, like Rome.

Yeah my thought processes on Conqueror goes something like this:

Find an outrageous way to get points Tick
Dedicate endless hours to it Tick
Cheat & steal Tick
Lose friends Tick
Have my name dragged through the mud Tick
Do all of the above and end up short of Conqueror Uh oh maybe this is not such a good idea after all

So it is back to my longterm gameplan. The original plan was to arrive at Conqueror in 2028 by which time lack would have fixed the scoreboard. Due to an unfortunate run of wins I have brought forward my peaking date to 2017 – meantime lack has pushed back scoreboard reform to “after the next big release”, ie 2036. So I’m kind of in limbo & in need of a plan C.

The reality of the situation, is that there are 20 or so excellent players that can get to the #1 spot IF they are willing to make the aforementioned sacrifices of fun and morals and eat buckets of shit and stress.

Is it obvious to anyone else that the scoring system should be tweaked to represent the true skill of the player and not the ones willing to ride their one trick pony from the base camp to the summit?

I think there is a perception that being conqueror is pretty much like scoring a trophy wife.
Temporary and useless after a few weeks of stroked ego and gratification.

Why do we keep a scoring system that devalues the #1 position in the rankings?
If any of the 20 or so elite can grab it at will by just playing mindless formula, compromising their ethics, and by putting in sheer time?

Sound more like Work of Warcraft sit and click achievements.
Time to revamp it so that reflects the skill set more than the mindset.

first off you have to search for all them low rank player, then you have to start all them 1 Vs 1 game......add a password, you can't afford a high ranking player better than you joining a game.
then you have to send out all them invites to the cooks and cadets and 1 strippers.

then there is the all the time you have to spend in there forums saying that there nothing wrong with your style, and how you should be number 1.

but when you are number 1, you can say that you are the biggest bully in the sandpit..... and your are better than everyone else.

so i don't need any skill, just got to pick a couple of hard maps with hard settings and invite all em low ranking players......and kill kill kill ☠☠☠

Yeah, but it's within the rules as the noobs joined.
If you read the chat, you even have some nice soft spin-doctoring there. A friendly goodbye, an offer to live-chat, and even Lanyards piping up that when he was a young'un, he would have jumped at the chance to play the elites.

I can see this p.o.v. but I don't fully agree b/c:

1. Generals generally play other Generals (or teams equal in points) to limit the point risks.
2. They often have found more dependable teammates (often via their established clans).
3. Point risks are calculated by their proficiency on a map vs. a lower opponent's map proficiency when they choose to play a lower opponent.

Top twenty players are not so good that they can start creating 1 v 1 public games and expect to stay in the top twenty. They've learned how to play the system. Just b/c they haven't point hawk'd in the same way that conquerers often do, doesn't mean that they aren't doing it in some fashion to retain their standing.

There are a lot of good players that have decided that they just want to play tourneys, public games (speed and public) that just don't want to limit their fun as owenshooter noted in order to attain and retain an especially high rank.

I'm pretty sure that whatever system I invent and no matter how much time I spent using that system, I wouldn't make it to the absolute top, to be number 1. I can't find the concentration to play every game like my life depends on it. And I'm probably not good enough to invent a system that guarantees me anything. Mind you, if I could do it, I still wouldn't, because it seems rather boring to me. But that's not the point I'm trying to make here. My point is that I, and a lot of others, just suck a little too much to ever become number 1. We should all just accept this.

a long time ago i came up with a perfect system where you couldn't lose any points (if done right) but you could gain thousands. and it wasn't breaking any rules.
i had 2 choices, go ahead and become conqueror or try my best to convince lack to do something about this exploit. i chose the latter. that probably was my only shot at conqueror.

I dont disagree with what you say but lets be honest , there are a lot of very poor players about who can and do ruin games with reckless and stupid moves, avoiding them is NOT too much of a sacrifice

If I had to try to become conqueror and do it within the current rules I'd do something like mrgivinghead is doing. Play inexperienced and low ranked players on extremely difficult maps and settings. Chose your map, chose your settings and chose your opponents. Don't play for fun, play to win as if your life depends on it!

I will never be a conquerer. I rarely play team or freestyle games, nor do I use cheap tactics just to get more points. I have played more 8 person games then any others, and no matter how good you are, you won't win many of those. Conquers play almost only team games, and always team up with other very high ranked players, and they know every trick in the book to manipulate the system to get more points, especially in freestyle games. I won't even play team freestyle games because of this manipulation on these types of players parts. I've foed a number of players for cheap tactics like beginning their turn in a freestyle game just in time to take the last man of the person I was trying to eliminate. I take out like 40 men and 25 countries just for someone to begin turn take one country and one man and steal that persons cards from me. That is just plain cheap, unsportsmanlike and dangerously close to cheating. As soon as I get my freestyle gold medal, you'll never see me play a freestyle game again due to these point hungry, cheap tactic playing idiots.
