This CC-dappled life

Postby Incandenza on Fri Apr 13, 2007 12:49 am

As I'm approaching my six-month 'anniversary' of playing on this site, as well as the completion of my 200th game, I feel an o'erwhelming desire to say a couple things.

One is that it's creepy how much CC has altered my perception of the world around me, especially the concepts of 'good dice' and 'bad dice'... Trite examples of such would be my reaction to the movie 300: "Wow, the Persians got some seriously bad dice at Thermopylae." Or to my daily commute: "Man, the 405 is pretty clear today. That's some decent dice right there."

The Mafia thing lends a whole new element, especially while watching Reservoir Dogs, which plays out like the world's most f'ed-up mafia game as the chromatically-named gangsters try and determine which of their number is a police informant. (if the movie were a mafia game, Mr. Blonde would have almost certainly been played by wicked)

The other is that there is a commonality of experience to this site that I rather enjoy. Everyone has experienced at least several of the following Classic CC Moments:
getting hammered by blitzaholic in a team game as a new recruit
winning that first game that came down to a 1-on-1 dice roll
winning a game that you had no business winning
losing a game that you had in the bag
learning how to play team games and inflicting your own punishment on new recruits
posting in the flame wars while you could have been doing something more productive

There are many more archetypal CC experiences, and I invite people to include their own. What it really means is that no matter one's temperment or affiliation or rank, we all have moments in common, courtesy of this site. Those moments make us a community, with all the good and bad things that come with such a designation.

And yes, I am not in my right mind at the moment. :D

Thought not!

But I do agree that CC does change your perception of life and yes, I have experienced some of those things you listed
