Team Points Scoring change

Postby yeti_c on Wed Apr 11, 2007 3:58 am

Suggestion Idea: I think the Point scoring for Teams games could be tweaked slightly... Yes Yes I know this is a major sore point for a lot of people... however I think I've come up with a plan...

Specifics: I think the Team score should be calculated based on the remaining team members left at the end of the game... (Keep with me here)

Examples... at present the scores are worked out as such...

(loser's score / winner's score) * 20, up to a maximum of 100

Team A wins over Team B
Team A consists of
Private 1 on 1000
General 2 on 4000
Team B consists of
Captain 3 on 1500
Major 4 on 1800

So this is 3300 / 5000 * 20 = 13.2 -> 6/7 points each...

However under my system say...

(loser's score / winner's score) * 20 * Team Members Remaining, up to a maximum of 100

Team A wins but the General is dead...
So this is 3300 / 1000 * 20 * 1 = 66 -> 33 points each...

or
Team A wins but the private is dead...
So this is 3300 / 4000 * 20 * 1= 16 -> 8 points each...

or
Team A wins but neither is dead...
So this is 3300 / 5000 * 20 * 2 = 26 -> 13 points each...

Why this is needed : This rewards the Team for winning the game with more team members left alive...
Also this rewards the Lesser players with more points if they beat off overwhelming odds to go on and win...

Priority** (1-5): 2

PS Also added option is to change *20
to
*10 for Triples games
*20 for Doubles games
*30 for Standard games
So that Team games are harder to win total points.

however you may just encourage the guy with the lower score, to leave the opponents say with just one territory at the end of a game, and just eliminate his partner in order to gain more points
(i may have got this wrong but its how im seeing it right now :oops: )

This is dumb, a lot of times in escalating and flat rate team games, one partner will eliminate the other partner for his cards and use them to win the game.

Yes but you may take a points drop because of it... that's the idea... surely it's better tactics to win the game with all of you still alive than with only one of you still alive...

Surely it's better to work together as a team instead of killing off your partner for extra points. I hope this idea gets rejected.

Did you actually read the post... your reply this time is in fact almost word for word what I said...

There's a multiplier for team members remaining... in the extreme example of a Private with a General killing off the gen will garner more points...

However generally you will get more points for having more team mates remaining...

Is anyone that's read the first post properly going to make a reasonable comment or shall we just lock this one now as no-one seems to understand it.

i read it, you didnt say anything about multiplying the score if all are left alive, also that wasnt a good example to make at the beginning as it shows exaclty what we are all saying but which you are trying to deny, the fact that you win more points if you kill off the higher ranked teammate.........

You clearly didn't read it then...

(loser's score / winner's score) * 20 * Team Members Remaining, up to a maximum of 100

I even put it in bold for you in the very first post...

EDIT: However just saying it won't work or similar is not very useful criticism...

Perhaps offering an alternative...

Perhaps - the scores are worked out as before (i.e. Team loser / Team Winner * 20) then multiply by the remaining players) would be better as you don't get the difference for killing your highest ranked member...

i like the scoring system as it is now, is that a good enough alternative? yours simply isnt a great idea in my opinion. it seems to instead of ''fix'' the system (which i personally dont think is broken) just alter it so there are new ways of fiddling extra points.

also i read your first post twice, it wasnt bold when i first looked, plus if the whole point of this thread was the multiply by team members alive thingy, it would have helped to draw extra attention to it as well as be more concise in what you are actually suggesting.

getting stroppy at people just because they arent so keen on your idea is going to help the idea ba implemented or make you very popular.........

Fair enough.

I'm pretty sure it was always bold I did add the PS about 5 seconds later though...

I wasn't overly pleased with the responses of "this idea is dumb" and "I hope it gets rejected" from a Moderator who clearly hadn't understood the premise of the idea in any way shape or form thus shouldn't really have commented at all let alone in a childish negative way.

Apologies if I have offended you, though.

Bad idea..You could cheat this system so easily.

Take out your partner before game end ONLY to get extra points. Too free.
