teammates run amok

Postby Hatchman on Tue Apr 10, 2007 4:50 am

Hey

What is to be done (in a Doubles) with a teammate who ignores my efforts at planning strategy and just kind of plays his own game? Do I take him out? LOL Do I concern myself with just my own survival? Do I feed him armies

ive had that, just keep trying to co-ordinate stratergies but focus on staying alive and destroying the enemy. i assume they are only attacking the enemy so as long as you both fight them you may have a chance at victory albiet slim, unless of course the enemy are well co-ordinated

finish the game and dont partner him again! im afraid with guys like this doubles games are very hard to win, its far easier to find a regular partner who plays as a team :) that seems to be the way the top players make it.......

No, unless it gains you and your team significant advantage!

Always

but if you see how you can help him and see what he is trying to do then yes feed him armies

youre pretty much screwed, unless your opponents dont know what theyre doing.
when the game is over, you put that player on your ignore list

If you get partnered up with someone like this against a good team, the game can be pretty much over before the first round is over. I am in such a triples game where one of my teammates had the first move and with that one move he pretty much screwed any chances we had of winning. Frustrating since I typed up an entire treatise in the team chat and even sent a PM prior to his first move. He did his little thing and then said, "oops, this is triples?"
There is no luck, only preparation and execution.

Alliances are for the weak, whimpering masses looking for someone to hold their hand through the storm.

you just do every thing you can to win, no matter what....never turn on him...youre his partner, no matter what hes doing, and part of a team...you will lose the game if he's that bad, but at least you tried to win...

I cant tell you how many times ive had to watch winnable games slip through my fingers....its why partnering with the pros is the only way to go...

but I do like playing with some new players...though most try to take europe and n america on their first turn, some really catch on and listen, and then its a blast... ive played over 1300 games...ive probably played over 700 doubles and triples games...when im playing with a veteran, I will always listen to their advice....why someone with 50 games doesnt listen...I have no idea....

I think its because the games are lost not won.... you have to see how to lose them...then you understand how not to...and you win.

The good ones will rise to the top...the others will be stuck in threestripesville for their entire carrier...its just how it is

Yup, I have a growing list of excellent team mates. But occasionally I'll enter a new game with an unknown team mate. This shall not be the case much longer. It seems better to just organize team games with people you know and then open them to whomever.

yeah, I'm still in the "finding good teammates" phase. I've gotten some stinkers, but if you find a good one, hang on to them.

I've had some where I was teamed with someone . . . less then clever. Usually, you can figure out what THEY are doing, and use it to your advantage as much as possible. But ultimately, a bad teammate in a game where the opposition is decent is a lost cause.

Do the best you can, and hope they do some good before they die.

Completely off-topic but hatchman: I think your avatar looks more like Rasputin ("the mad-monk") than Aragorn

Your best double partners are those you know IRL.... if they dont follow your command its just to give them real asswhoopin... and then next time they will know better than trying to do things not in line with your superior strategy :)
