Is it all right to play???

Postby trackersdream on Sun Apr 08, 2007 11:19 am

In a team game with my Fiancee on the same team if we use the same computer???

We do not play against each other at all online, but only on the same team but I have read mixed reviews on it so far and am not sure definitively which is right or wrong.

I feel it is right since we are not on opposite teams and thus not intentionallly losing to one or the other also on a team we have to work towards common goal and foes.

It might be a good idea to let the mods know so you don't get ban hammered. Not sure if that post is enough.

I think it's perfectly OK. I've been trying to get my GF to play on here with me, but her resistance is very strong. I did manage to get her to take about 5 moves for me in a singles game but she grew tired of the waiting and told me I had to make the moves or miss turns. I WILL eventually turn her to the Dark Side.
There is no luck, only preparation and execution.

There are two issues: playing with your partner and having two accounts play from the same computer.

First I believe it's legal for you to play as a team in doubles games. I believe it's also legal for you to play on the same team in any of the partner games (e.g., doubles, triples).

Second, since you have two players playing from the same computer (and hence sharing the same IP address), you should PM lackattack (the site owner) stating your two usernames and explaining that you are going to use the same computer and would like to play as a team in partner games, but will not play against each other in non-partner games. The issue here is that one of the way the site catches multis (people having multiple accounts) is by looking at the IP addresses of the players in a game. Since you two will be sharing the same IP address since you play from the same computer, you don't want to get caught up in the net of the multi hunters. I think the accepted way around this is to PM lackattack and explain your situation before you start having two player's play from the same IP address.

About non-partner games: I don't think you and your fiancee should ever play public non-partner games together. However, if you play private non-partner games and secure the prior permission of each of the other players in the game then there will be no problem.

Aren't you lucky that your fiancee likes the site?

Good luck and have fun.
