The tabs above the maps, take snapshot, show differences, etc. don't work for me. Is it because I am a freemium? Am I doing something wrong? It would be really helpful to be able to see everybody elses turn to better judge my strategy.

no, but are you using BOB correctly and are you useing the latest version?
remember, you can only use show difference if you first go to the previous turn.
you can get a chat snapshot OR a normal snapshot stored on your computer. the latter can be found on the right hand side9for me) under snapshots.

I have 5.1.5 installed but the tutorial in the help/info on the BOB menu is for 4.4.9 I assume I have the latest version but there is no snapshot option in my BOB menu. Or map options, view options, or confirmations for that matter. As to if I am using it correctly I have no idea. I would think it should be standard to be able to see at least the end of every players turn instead of just reading the log and trying to visualize what took place.

Hmm, I guess I should change that a bit. The show differences-button only works if you're viewing a snapshot, and highlights the differences between the snapshot and the current amounts/owners of the armies (so if someone deployed troops there or attacked with it, or even conquered the country, it would show up). Otherwise (when the text at the end says Live), it shouldn't do anything.

There are no stupid questions. And as far as it goes yours is a good one.
To be able to tell you what you must do, i must know what you are doing and trying to do.
lets keep it simple.
from now on, use the [take snapshots in chat] button. This will add a few lines of text in gamechat that only you and your teammates can see. do this at e.g. the start of your turn and the end of your turn. Now see gamechat and press the first snapshot you have taken(in chat).
Now press [show differences]. if you did it correctly, a few flashing positions will appear where something has changed. in this case you maybe attacked someone else, so their stack is lower, or you only placed and your stack is now higher.
i think that covers it.
advantage of chat snapshots over the other kind of snapshot (and its differences)
chat snapshot gives the snapshot in chat, so you can everybody else can see it, even if you use another computer. However certain large maps like hives and prison-break take up too much space in gamechat so you cannot use it there properly.
(regular) snapshots stores the snapshots on your computer, also in the case of very large maps, however you will always need to use the same computer. Because it is not stored centrally, so your teammates in teamgames also cannot see those snapshots.
in short, in teamgames you want to use chat snapshots, if you travel with a different computer you want to use chat snapshots, if the map is too large for chat snapshots you want to use the regular snapshots.
keep asking those questions untill you do understand, we are here to help and the program does take a little getting used too. maybe we can use you to make a better help page.

snapshots now work. Thanks. Is there some way to make snapshots automatic after a players drop of tropps and after each players turn. It would sure make it more interesting as to analyzing each players motives and strategies if I could see the actual progression of the game and not just have to try to visualize from the game log.
