On a surrious note, I think this is just a case of you being butthurt (no offense). We might as well just hold hands, spin in a circle and sing children's songs. In my opinion, no words should be banned from game chat. Like I said in the moderator thread, you can ALWAYS FAMO/avoid. You don't even have to look at the fucking gamechat if you're offended. The only things that should be against the rules in gamechat should be those that are actually crimes (e.g. death threats, personal information, etc.).

I agree 100% with you, which is the reason for this. As there DO seem to be words that are worse than others are therefore not allowed, shouldn't the community KNOW about them beforehand before they get randomly warned? There appears to be a grand master list, so why can't we see it before we get punished for some words and not others?

i agree here. And extent it not only to game chat but forum activity. I was one month banned for putting 2 forbidden words, in a space of almost a year. Which is , to say less, shocking.

I've been in another online game where "spazoid" was considered offensive and bannable.
Needs some confirmation from a mod or former mod.

As I understand it, ethnic or homophobic slurs are definitely not ok. Then there's the gray area that could definitely use some clearing up.

If you lack the intelligence to figure out what vocabulary and context can get you into trouble on this site, then you might be in need of a vacation to sort out your social skills anyways. That way your future interactions here and in the real world may achieve a more suitable result. If bigotry, racial slurs, hate speech and misogyny are common in your home and your favorite nick name or expression of affection for your mom is cunt? Then you have a lot of personal issues to work through and need a lot more help than any list can provide.

If you believe that starting this thread is a clever way to legitimately post words that you think other people will find offensive? It isn't.

I dont get this selection of acceptable language on the inernet. I think foul language should be accepted or banned, this selection of certain words is silly on a basic level and is only because the site is protecting their asses.

I'm sure there are a lot of people on site that would love to be answer to one or all of the above words. What is offensive changes from country/district/age group etc.

Small example - In the Solomon Islands it is a compliment if you tell another man they have a fat wife. This is suggesting that the man is a good provider so his wife doesn't need to do any manual labour such as working in the family gardens.

Live in a western country and tell someone you don't know that their wife is fat...... I'm sure they won't take it as you trying to compliment them.

I'm sure with the whole lets have double standards, and never give a clear ruling spelling out exactly what is and isn't acceptable there could be some rather amusing situations.

Imagine if you will a few african americans chatting to each other in live chat and using the N word(am to scared to write the word, as I'm only mixed race). They get pinged for using the "N" word. They then argue that their use of the "N" word is their way to take the word back. A bit like the SLUT(a word that used to refer to a slovenly domestic helper...) marches that have been happening all around the western world, Thanks a lot canada. Would CC be out of line?

How about gay(a word that used to mean happy, not same sex attracted) men using the F with a double g word? Work in an industry where a high percentage of my co workers are gay. One of my work colleagues when asked whether perez hilton is cute always responds along the lines of "she is just a silly f^##*t, give me a real man any day". So gay men have ownership of that word do they?

Can't see it happened. Much easier to have a lot of unwritten rules, just because people pay to use a site, doesn't mean they deserve a consistent service. That would be way to much to ask for.

Personally my first amendment right trumps any all lists of words that may seem offensive to some.. The key word there is some . For example if you use the word faggot who exactly are you offending , the closet case homo ? From my experience a flaming fag is not offended by the word faggot but closet case is.

I think it is more the case of when words are used they should check what country the player is from and contact other players from the same country to find out what they think before issueing any warnings.

this when you hurt yourself can be used as a slur in the uk or when someone beats you in a game you thought you had won. But if you say this to a portuguese person it is one of the thing they hate.
