I was considering that, but what about the second round and so on? The first round of the knockout stage takes place on the #1 team's home field. All subsequent rounds would be played on, say, classic unlimited, with cards being determined by the majority stated preference (i.e. home field preference) of the remaining teams.
A bit complicated, but it seems fair.
