Removing posts

Postby Fuzzy316 on Mon Jun 13, 2011 4:03 am

I cannot seem to find the answer to this question:

Am I able to remove a post once it has been put live? For example: Created a tourney that has generated no real interest so far. I want to remove it in order to create a different one.

On the first post (Meaning yours) you should see a button that has an "x" on it. That deletes your post.

Yes it is possible, however it is adviced NOT to delete your posts. If you posts last in a topic and no new posts have been made, you can see an X button next to the edit button that allows you to delete the entire message. In any other case you cannot. if the need is there you can contact a moderator in the respective forum or send in an e-ticket as to why a post should be deleted. in general this request is not met unless it e.g. contains a forum Nono such as personal information.

You always have to option to edit your posts, as in remove or add information, but not to just delete your posts.

in addition, deleting posts is a bad thing. Do not edit or delete posts in the C&A forum. I think the Tournament Directors(TD) also frown upon deleting posts. After all they need to keep track of things and if you simply delete posts, that would not do. If there is a tournament you cannot get any support for, a TD will close it for you. At that point you can start another one. In general this is not something you should do often. in fact if you start many tournament threads that do not appeal to the gen pop, then your rights to create new tournaments might be revoked. Just make sure you think things through before you make a post, that will solve a lot!

Tournament requests including how to set them up, and or advice on how to improve your tournament can best be found tin the tournament forum. With anything specific i am sure they will help you further, as ofcourse will I.

i hope this helps.

You can only remove a post if it hasn't gotten any replies. Once it has gotten a reply, even one, the option to remove it disappears.

However, since you're talking about a tourney, you can just add edit it and ask the Tournament Directors to remove it. Just put a note at the top saying you want to cancel it, and edit the title to add "[please cancel]" or something after the title, and the TD's will move it to the Cancelled forum within a day or two.

I could be wrong, but I think that is false.. Just because no-one likes your tournies and they don't join them doesn't mean your privileges should get revoked. If that is the case, then that rule sucks :D

That's because the rule doesn't exist.

Alright, Thanks Night Strike. I stand corrected
Note: Your tournament needs to be filled and started within 30 days of posting it. This is to keep the Create/Join a Tournament fresh with new tournaments, and saves you the hassle of having to find new players if some of the early sign-ups forget about the tournament. Some leeway is given, but don't abuse it. If you need help finding players, contact another organizer or a Tournament Director.

I assumed this would in excess also lead to.. well you know, as I said. Thanks for clearing this up.
