This has been suggested and rejected multiple times. Just one more reason against it, administration and bank costs would mean even less money is availiable to CC per transaction. CC pays a fixed fee PLUS % per transaction, as do most bussinessess when the get e-money and or creditcard payments

lack can do what he want's but this is a silly argument, particularly the part I bolded. The percentage fee is the same on $25 whether you receive it as 1 payment 2 or 12. That's the nature of percentages. So a percentage fee is perfectly irrelevant. The fixed fee's simply aren't that high, generally measured in cents not dollars. I can't speak specifically for what he uses for credit card. But paypal's fixed fee is a mere $0.30(Source: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?c ... es-outside).
Rates
1 year $25
6 months $15
1 month $4
Results before percentage
1x1 year $25 - $0.3 = $24.7
2x6 months $30 - $.6 = $29.4
12x1 month = $48 - $3.6 = $44.4
Due to the nature of percentages the larger numbers would stay larger. Fees ESPECIALLY percentage fees are not a reason against payment tiers.

The figures you mentioned above are only the swipe fees of $0.30 per transaction. Now you have to add the percentage fee to that. If it was 1.9% which was the lowest percentage from the link provided the percentage fee would be $.475. Add the two together he would be paying $0.775 on a $25.00 transaction. You didn't mention the bank fees he has to pay either.
Also with credit cards if he has to many transactions contested by the card holders his rates will go up. Being an internet business and the age of many of the members I would think his contested transaction numbers are higher than many other businesses.
There are hidden costs in running a business that many people don't realize unless the run a business.
