Missed Turn Army Rollover Abuse

System exploit or a fair tactic?

Just playing a game just now, waiting on one player to finish her go (Time was up at 22:57:55) so i dutifully logged on to take my go once the round had finished only to find that 2 minutes after her go expired she had logged on, played first in the new round and instead of receiving the 9 armies she should have received, she now had 18. To add insult to injury she had a rainbow set which she traded in as well.

Now in this case it seems fairly obvious that she had saved her cards, logging on 2 minutes after the time was up for the round indicates to me she was doing it on purpose as she knew when the round was finished. But wanted to get the extra armies and combine it with the rainbow set.

Would you class this as a fair tactic or a system exploit? Fair enough if you miss your go because you genuinely can't get onto a computer, but logging on 2 mins after the round expires seems a bit fishy to me. Particularly when it was Midnight in her timezone.

Exploit, without a doubt.

I have nothing wrong with people who are too busy missing a turn - we all have lives, and thats fair enough - and i dont mind their armies rolling over when they missed.

Yet, purposefully, as a tactic, it's just wrong. Slows the game terribley and very unsportsmanlike.

It would be better if the armies did NOT roll over if the player who missed had logged in/taken a turn in another game, whilst able to play in the one which they missed, but left that one to go through the 24hr period.

(I think it might have been Hemmingway)

At least in this war there are rules. This player just played by the rules and so is fair.
There are about a million or so threads on this topic, explore those and you'll see opinions spread right across the board...although I think most feel that the rules need to change.

im not so sure about fair, but fair dosetn come into this, its definately an underhand tactic, but dont forget it can backfire as well as gain, personally i let those who want to do it do it, and just get on with my own game

Well, it's all part of the freestyle package.

what ticks me off and catches these people that use that nefarious tactic is when they have other games that they actively play in the 24hour time span then conveintly forget to play really get me ticked

If you don't like the rule and tired of being abused against you...the best thing you can do ..Stop Playing freestyle.

When freestyle participation drops to a new low on participants..they will change the rules.
