Classic Art Map?

Postby James Julius on Wed May 04, 2011 9:29 pm

What happened to the Classic Art Map? Why did it have to go?

I have started a thread in suggestions to bring it back (or something as close to it as possible). I think a lot of players don't like the dots and lines on the current board.

Meh, Classic Art was ugly. Sorry for the makers, but it was. If the subject of a map is "art", the map should be artistic, perhaps showcasing various styles of art, and not just a collection of coloured boxes.

Not going to miss that one.

Classic is what we have now, and lackattack won't be allowing multiple maps with the same gameplay anymore. If you don't like the line connections or whatever, there's loads of geographical maps for you to play.

Yeah, if it doesn't add anything really in graphics and doesn't add anything in gameplay, then it's not really worth it.

Austerlitz, for example, might not be the prettiest of maps, but it definitely had some pretty interesting gameplay mechanics.

To each his own, I think Austerlitz is a great trips fog map. And really, who doesn't like the classic map?

I didn't really like the looks of the old classic maps, but it surprised me that CC would take away any map it once deemed satisfactory. maybe there can be a new "vintage map day" where lack brings all the old maps back.

It wasn't really developed though. It was a stopgap put in place when the original classic went down.

that's probably why it's not too visually appealing

correction: I never PLAYED the map, but I clicked the links someone posted and saw the pictures of the old maps... so yes I can have an opinion because I know what I'm talking about. Simple mistake on your part, no biggie :)

Don't change anything about yourself shield, owen is just having "feminine problems".

I say bring the damn thing back so we can all try it, its not like there aren't a billion maps already anyways. What's one more going to hurt?

What is there to "try"? It will play exactly the same as the current Classic map.

Classic Art map, hmm, what to say abouth these C*** of map. These map whas created in 24 h, brake all rules in foundry, because community its not aloved to participiate in these map developments, and when these whas "quenched" 6 elite members,or former and present CA , get medals for creating these graphic master C***, again brake a rule, that only two person can get medal. And then you want to everybody be equal in system where CA get much faster credit for hes work, when everybody else can be kick in ass, and dont get recognition in same way. Many time i demand, that these 6 medal be removed from these 6 member, but unfortunatly they belive that for these map who are created in 24 h, they all deserve medals. If i want to create some kind of C*** map, they will not alove me, and i will not be awarded for creating C***, but im not CA.

Qwert, dig up that old thread or make a new one in suggestions and I will support the medal stripping wholeheartedly if that is indeed what happened.

I think the whole reason was that they didn't want to go without classic for any extended amount of time, so rules had to be broken.

But what about the medal issue? Tbh all this talk about the map makes me want to play it like crazy. I don't like the current classic map with all its lines and such. Seems like the art one would feel more like the board game.

For the record, Lackattack has stated that he doesn't want to have multiple maps with the same gameplay anymore. I for one agree with it.

CC has lots of maps already. Personally, I feel that at this point each new map should bring something new to the table. A map that is just a copy of another map but in different clothes fails to achieve that goal.

Lots of new maps bring nothing new to the table but a different region of the world/time period. If you wanted to shave the map choices down to truly unique maps you would be left with like 20 maps or so. Besides, I think the classic map is unique since there were copyright issues with it and therefore it was used as a "best you can do" map. You are comparing apples to oranges.
Nice kiss btw.
