Your First Win

Postby shieldgenerator7 on Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:58 pm

How many games did you play before you finally won one?
The first game I joined I lost because of some deadbeaters,
but the first game I finished I won, surprisingly. Game 7787310 :)
Soon after the game I first joined finished, the only other guy that didn't deadbeat beat me dead. :(
But it was a good game though :)

It took me 7 games to win my first one. That is still one my favorite maps.

I lost my first two games, switched to freestyle and won my 3rd & 4th games.
Went back to seq - lost #5. my 6th game was my first sequential victory.

Hard times :( but by #6 I still had 50% win lol

My very first game (7918 games ago) was Game 123269.

Yikes.
I sure could have made it easier on myself....I wonder if e84 would do a rematch, lol.

I don't remember my first win, alas. I do remember my first big singles game win was 8 thoughts and it lasted at least 50 rounds. What a great game :D .

Personally, I find shield's contributions to the forums a refreshing change from the general cynicism that tends to creep into every corner. There's my two cents.

My first win was on USApocalypse, 4 player, esc. After that game I've hated USApoc and escalating for about 1,5 year.
Nostalgia is taking over now, though. I actually like escalating and play USApoc more often.

why would you need to do notes to self? And why don't personal notes show up after the game is archived?

Here are mine:

2008-08-15 15:34:56 - thegreekdog [self]: put all new armies on libya, take egypt from libya, take algeria from algiers, tunisia, tripoli,
2008-08-25 07:18:00 - thegreekdog [self]: take algeria and fortify!
2008-08-25 14:57:48 - thegreekdog [self]: hand in cards, destroy rudolph

Clearly sound advice although I wonder why I included an exclamation point under the second comment. Was I not fortifying? Perhaps I was getting excited on my first potential win.

An escalating luxembourg, 8 players. I had lost a lot of games before that because I was lazy and didn't bother learning how to play. Then I started paying more attention to the game... so I won 270 points from that first win.

...omg it was freestyle :o

My first win was freestyle... Excuse me, I need to go to the shower and scrub myself with steel wool.

Holy shit, I lost 14 games straight when i joined this site it seems.

I'm not sure wether to be upset with my past self for clearly being an idiot or proud for not quitting after 14 consecutive defeats. :-k

Oh, and my first win was a ... doubles ... freestyle ... *shudders*

Oh, I didn't count team games. My first team win was a triples Draknor.... sequential. It's a small comfort...

I'm not going to post any of my notes to self, there were LOTS of exclamation points, too embarrassing  . And to those of you that won your first games freestyle, you should probably flagellate yourselves for good measure :D . I suck at freestyle, maybe I'm just a little envious ;) .

the first quadruples game I won was the one in which I met Honky_D and two other players who played on my team. We faced Blitz and his buddies and we beat them. praise the Lord. Since then I've played a lot of dubs with Honky_D but we didn't win much after that because I'm not all that good at team games as Funkyterrance found out (really I thought we were going to win that one).

It actually makes sense for someone that comes to this site to start with freestyle games (it's faster, and that counts when you're a freemium). So I did that too.
I think I started with 2 games, and increased that to 4 quite quickly. I lost my first game, but won the other 3 of my first batch (and 2 of those were freestyle). And judging from the logs, I guess Game 407809 was the first one I won.

My first wins were 4409464 and 4412133.....I was on vacation in Cuba and it cost me like, 30$ Canadian to keep from missing my turns. You had to buy these internet time cards to use a computer at the resort I was staying at.

My first loss was 203313.....I guess I had joined the site nearer to its inception than when I had actually started playing for real. It was a doubles match and my partner deadbeated out of the game, and I missed a turn as well before being eliminated.
Also, my first loss was to my current clanmate, UCAbears.

Heh.
