What? How am I trying to influence anything? I'm just debating with Yoshi whether or not roleclaiming under pressure is a good idea or not. We haven't had a VC in a while so I'm not sure what position vote yours is, but I'm pretty sure it's the 5th one, which would be some pretty blatant bandwagonning with a reason that I don't think has any evidence or relevance.
I aren't bandwagonning this time, I admit my last vote was. It has evidence Post #5 be suggesting either a) you are physic (i.e can read people minds not in-game role) b) extremely paranoid c) bluffing and leading us on a wild duck and goose chase. And the relevance related to point c) as you may want us killing our own townies to make your job easier.
There's a difference between killing townies and lynching people. Doing a blind no lynch day 1 only helps mafia. If we sit around and wait for the cop to start naming scum, mafia are just gonna pick us off 1 night at a time. Generally, we risk lynching a town member because we want information on voting patterns, faulty logic, poor reasoning, bandwagonning, lurking, and at the end, a roleclaim. Let me spell it out for you with an example.
Let's say we pressure person A. At L-2 or L-1, he claims a role, say SirSebstar. If someone else comes in and say "wait a minute, I'm SirSebstar!', then we know one of these two is lying. Therefore we got mafia. If we don't lynch one of them right away, the cop can investigate one of them and then we can lynch the other one.
And I'm not being paranoid or bluffing. If I remember correctly, my only serious vote has been on firth because he was inactive. Now that he's back, I can
unvote. Does nobody else really think that a third party cult is not possible? I'm not asking you to accept that there is one, I'm saying that the day scene + number of players hints to the possibility of being one. This game, being official, was checked for balance, so I know it's a distinct possibility that with 20+ players, a cult is possible. Show me where I accused anyone of being cult? I just said that it's possible there is one based on the day scene.

Safari, can you please use your mafia experience to elaborate on what this third party can and cannot be?
Also, do you (or anyone else) think that pancakemix's erratic behavior is indicative of a 3rd-party jester role?
In terms of what third party is, there is a distinction between cult and third party. Third party is more general than cult. Third party players can be serial killers (kill someone at night, wins if last person standing), survivors (wins if alive at then end of the game) or something else, but those two are the most common.
Cult, on the other hand, is considered a third party faction. Usually starts with 1 cult recruiter, may have 1 or two cult goons with some ability (roleblock, vote steal, etc.). Each night, the cult recruiter may attempt to recruit someone. If the target is town, the target is usually recruited unless something happens like the recruiter is roleblocked or the target is busdriven. If the target is mafia, one of two things can happen. Either the recruiter is killed or the recruitment fails. Once recruited, depending on the mod, the former town player may lose his abilities or keep them. The goal of the cult is to be the last group standing, or outnumber town if mafia is gone (can depend on the game). If the recruiter is killed, generally the cult cannot recruit anymore. Some games have the recruiting ability pass on to the oldest surviving cultists. Investigations can come up as either guilty or innocent depending on the mod.
