Believe me, if he was my scummate I would have never defended him. I wouldn't ever make a mistake like that. Look at the lynch of safari in Nostalgia. Defending scum vigorously = everyone thinks you are scum and hanging scum looks good if you are on the wagon early enough. I am not a fan of shooting at random D1 because the odds of shooting right are slim, but there is only so far I am willing to stick my neck out for rookie. When he continued to advocate a NL I figured enough was enough.

Right a few thoughts:

1) Shieldgenerator is trolling the forums, bumping old threads and whatnot - I wouldn't be surprised if he is trolling this game too. I don't think he should be lynched because of this behaviour now, I'd rather see him replaced with someone a bit more competent and someone who is more willing to play the game properly

At first I was going to agree but I realized that he's making day 1 pretty fun. Even if he's just trolling he's not doing anything to warrant replacement.

2) The way some people are now doing 180 degrees on the guy, reaks of hypocrisy - there really is a gang bandwagon nature going on developing accross the board in all the games. That stuff on nostalgia day 1 really left a sour taste in my mouth, if you don't like the way I play get over it OK. Esocsil - you FOS me for voting the guy who voted no lynch but now you are doing the same. All the idiot/troll is doing is sticking to his guns, almost like we wants to be lynched and I doubt pancake would put a jester in this game. The first time he voted no lynch and over defensive nature was ultra scummy, it completely deserved my vote. However, now he is playing like he is knowing full well the implications that it will get him lynched makes no sense. This guy WANTS to be lynched and I will have no part in this new bandwagon.

Edocsil has been all over the map this game. He's gone from voting you to bandwagoning shield when I finally placed a serious vote. Not to mention he wanted me dead too

Shield's refusal to back down from his stance is curious. I don't know what to make of it.

3) Sheepofdumb - I take exception to this statement "I want to see a little bit more but if you ask me there are three days worth of lynches the town has lined up." I didn't like the way he seems to be planning three lynches for the town , this early in the game, attempting to take control just from a few comments made at the beginning. You seem to suggest that shields first post was scummy and worth a lynch, yet my response to his scuminess was scummy and worth a lynch and then fircoals response to my scuminess was also scummy in turn and worth a lynch. Make up your mind!

I saw all three of you as good prospects to apply pressure on. I had just read streakers post and I can see where his post influenced my thinking. I did let my mind wander during that sentence I'll admit. Three days of lynches was uncalled for. I apologize.

I tried to help shield in his first game. I gave him some advice and he choose to ignore it. My patience for his noobish mistakes has grown thin. If people don't want to lynch him then I'm not going to champion the issue any further. I wanted him to see that he's was indeed skating on thin ice.

Nag I'll admit I let the other posts influence my opinion of you. I think you were being agressive by claiming he was giving a scum tell by being defensive but he still deserved some pressure for that no-lynch vote.

I think fir was over reacting to the pressure on shield. There were two votes on shield (one joke and nags serious vote). It was essentially one "over reaction" getting an over reaction.

This is not very relavent to what's going on right now though. Edocsil and Shield are much more interesting right now.

tehe there's the last little bit I was looking for. Attempting to deflect attention from yourself when you're under fire. fyi I usually wait until post have accumulated until I get really active. D1 is just going through the motions. Call me a poor player if you will. And you can't really use the "I will vote when so-and-so is at x votes" as a valid defense. Just make a case, even a shitty one, and vote somebody. You won't hurt anybody's feelings. The first cases are always shitty and are used to gauge reactions anyway.

No, we know what to make of you. You are coming into a game with loads of vets. We try to accomodate new players because we want you to play with us. However we can say no. Mods can refuse you because you have a bad reputation (or they don't want noobs) and the town can lynch you day 1.

Saying you will hammer a player with 6 votes is not only super scummy but also hypocratic to your defiant no lynch stance. You are digging your own grave despite the warnings of the vets.

You lack basic game theory. It's like you are skipping your first turn in risk. Everyone else is going to place their armies and get stronger.

We aren't hurt or betrayed by your refusal. We are all giving a collective /facepalm as we watch you place your own noose around your neck.

One point that you will want to keep in mind is that there is a difference between not voting for anyone and voting no lynch. At this point in time it is understandable to not know who you think should be lynched. However, if you are going to vote no lynch, after hearing people explain why they disagree with it, then you are going to have to provide some reason for why you think that we should end the day without lynching anyone. Note that simply not knowing about anyone is not a good reason for ending the day, it is a reason for more discussion.

EXT. CITY STREET - DAY

The town is gathered outside to discuss the murder problem. Shieldgenerator seems nervous and jumpy, as if his life were in danger.

SHIELD (uneasily): I don't know if it's such a good idea to lynch anyone today, guys.

NAG (alarmed): Oh yeah? Well since you don't think we ought to lynch, what's stopping us from lynching you?

SHEEP: That's a fairly good point. I say we get rid of him!

SHIELD: Hey, take it easy! I didn't know what I was saying?

COMM: Oh really? Then you will vote for someone?

SHIELD: Well, I... uh...

TG: He's just saying that! Lynch him!

NAG: Now I'm not sure. Maybe he's just screwing with us.

EDOC: Don't be ridiculous. I've already had enough of him. Let's get this over with.

They turn to apprehend Shield but see that he is not there, and is fleeing for his life down the street.

TG: After him!

The townspeople give chase but they come to an intersection where there is no sign of him. They have lost his trail

EDOC: Spread out and search! He can't have gone too far!

COMM: Let's meet back here after we search.

TG: Good idea.

The townies spread out but find nothing. Upon returning to the intersection, they discover a figure lying in the center

SHEEP: Look!

It is the body of Shieldgenerator. The townspeople move in to examine the body.

NAG (examining the corpse): Asphyxiation. By choking.

COMM: But how do you explain these?

Commander lifts up Shield's head to reveal two slits in his cheeks. They continue their search and find a badge.

Day continues. With 10 alive it takes 7 to lynch.
