Violators and screwed doubles rules

Postby legionbuck on Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:22 am

Game # 8751713 Luxembourg doubles , 2 teams > Team 2 blue ( neda ) kicked out for violating rules, partner yellow ( Viola) gets all his turf , gets double his normal troop issue, wins the game.

1. Screwed up that violators get points after being kicked out !

2. Screwed up that team partner gets violator's turf .

3. Another reason a Class of 2006 member didn't renew my premium this year.

Viola did nothing wrong , but in a case like this , or a partner deadbeating, turf should revert to neutral, and a violator / deadbeater should not get OR lose any points !

This needs to be addressed !!!!

legionbuck I have been in doubles games where the other team one of them deadbeated. I didn't like it either, but rather than just ranting about it help come up with a better solution to the problem. Do you have any suggestions?

I don't think it'll matter, to be honest. I've seen at least 10 different suggestions for "fixing" this and nothing has changed.

Like I said in my original post...all violator /deadbeater turf reverts to neutral upon being kicked out.

That's because the CC " gods"are either lazy, or have no interest in fixing the problem. Suggestion = Premium members state that unless this is addressed, bye bye premium membership ....seems only money talks in CC !

So what, screw over the other team and give them no chance whatsoever to win? Is it there fault they had a violator on there team? Did they know they were going to have their partner kicked out? If that was implemented, people would becoming in here complaining about that exact same thing i mentioned. "OMG, it's unfair, i didn't know my partner was a cheater, why am I being punished for it?"

OK, then how about the game is terminated instantly, and only the violator / deadbeater loses points to ALL game players ? That HAS to be fair !

An excellent rule would be if someone was kicked due to breaking site rules that the games are worth zero points and don't matter.
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.

This idea I actually kind of like. I'm not sure if I prefer that the game be voided, or the other 3 (or however many) players get his points. Either one might have problems though. I kind of think I like what you have here, with the violator loosing points to the other 3. Or possibly him loosing point to his opponents, and his partner neither wins nor looses.

The next question is, do you implement this for someone who misses 3 turns also, or should those still go to his partner as it is now?

That can't happen. I could see several general+cook doubles with the cook deadbeating everytime they are going to lose, thus bailing the general out.

I'm convinced the current solution is the best. Obviously it's not perfect, but I don't know how you can change it so it remains fair for the person that was on the multi's team. I haven't played one game yet where a person was kicked and the enemy was stronger because of it.

I like the "the multis points goes to everyone" thing, but people can abuse that as well.

I agree with jefjef though. It's best to just void the points for the game.

Price talks in any profit/loss environment, and money plays a primary part; otherwise, no one would have the need to listen to you.

The CC "gods" (who are largely at the mercy of its customers) do care about fixing the problem, which is why they're open to your feedback and to your solutions. Did you forget about that whole Suggestions subforum? Did you forget about how much has been implemented and improved over the past 5 years since you've been a member?

Yes, I have seen lots of improvements, and I HAVE put this in the suggestions file before...nothing was done about it. As for not seeing the enemy stronger for getting the violator / deadbeater's turf , have lost 3 games like this. The winner had his big troop drop the very next turn and walked the board after eliminating one player after another. The most one game went was 2 turns, by then it was too late.

Best fix = deadbeater / multi loses points to all players , game ends right then and there.

Have you started a thread in our actual Suggestions forum? If enough people agree, then it may just well be implemented.

I don't see how being premium or not has anything to do with Suggestions being pursued. Nuclear spoils, On-site clickable maps, Skip game, and some others were all suggested by freemium people (or at least they're freemium, now).

Suggestions is a slow process, but why wouldn't it be? Members come in all the time with their ideas, and to implement them all faster than people can brainstorm would require a whole team of programmers, I bet.

So if you make one, just give it time. If it gets Implemented, that's great, if not, that's ok too.

You say you lost 3 games because of this. You have played 352 doubles games, so that would be a rate of less than 1%. I am sure many companies wish the failure rate of their products was less that 1%. Of those three games were you going to lose any of those even without the deadbeat?

your suggestion would never work, because people would pair up with low ranks and simply have them deadbeat out to save their points (as was pointed out earlier)... if you are serious, go to the suggestions forum and start your debate there. that is the place, not here...-the black jesus

A better twist to the current situation is not allow these violators to buy their way back in..violation = perma ban. Would take a while but could thin the herd

That is for multis of course..deadbeats I have no idea, sometimes real life happens..

wonderful solution for multis, but this is a discussion on deadbeats    ... and everyone i talk to about the issue you are talking about agrees 100 percent. makes no sense that if you violate the number one rule of CC, you can buy back in right away and all is forgiven and you have full access to the site. you cross the line in the forum, they can ban you forever and limit your access to the site... makes absolutely no sense. sorry to go off topic, just commenting on the last comment...-the black jesus

While we agree with multis, if you read the thread title, "we" aren't all only speaking about deadbeats. :D

As for deadbeats. I don't think there is a better solution for all cases, people get sick, family emergencys, power outages, etc..Repeat offenders, maybe if people go beyond a certain turns missed % then they can only join X number of games, regardless if premmie or not untill % goes up?

Sometimes, the known evil is better than the unknown evil. In other words, was Norse a bigger pain in the ass before he was booted from the site or since? I suggest "since" to be the correct answer.

Stalemate games are not in any way a flaw in this site. They are not even a flaw in the game.
