HAH! we are 100% better than you are!

... Don't you mean 50% better than you? Not 100%? Cause... It would need to be:

California- 8
Oregon- 0

To be 100%.

Rode my bike up the Oregon coast 2 summers ago, and once i left California i couldn't find a beach to camp on where they didn't want at least 20.00. Then i almost got thrown in jail for trying to fill my tank at a gas station, and i couldn't find any decent food. Sorry, had to vote for Cal. Also i found a lot of hairy legged women in Oregon. Go figure.

You were probably in Southern Oregon, also known as the redneck part of the state

Seriously? California vs. Oregon?

Why not, say, the Red Sox against a bunch of wheelchair-bound Little Leaguers?

I'm sure Oregon is a lovely place. I'm told that Portland is a really nice city, and the people are friendly, and what not.

But, c'mon. The North Koreans could nuke Portland and Eugene and Salem all at the same time ten minutes from now, and the nation would mourn and prolly nuke someone and move on with nary a substantial hiccup.

If North Korean dumped a nuke on LA, however... serious problems economically and culturally (in the pop culture sense). How many movie studios are going to want to shoot movies in the irradiated ruins of downtown Los Angeles?

You guys are just bigger. Plus we just lost the national lead for meth users per capita (it moved north to Warshington). off to the bar to celebrate

Oregon's only benefit is that they are mostly green party people.

If California were an Independent Country it would be the 4th strongest country in the world economically.

*owned*

p.s. have you ever been to a beach in Oregon? If so, let me know when your balls come back, if ever.

All right, throwing all nationalism (statism) out the window, Oregon truly is better.

Los Angeles is one of the most horrible cities in the entire world. Ugly, smog-ridden, sprawling, culturally deficient. Nearly all of its inhabitants are mentally deranged in some way.

San Diego is beautiful, but very conservative and racist.

San Francisco is a wonderful, magical place-- Oh, and rent for a 300 sq ft studio apartment will be $4000/month, thanks. The rest of the Bay Area has its certain charms, but also has a lot of detractors (still expensive, again lots of sprawl, don't even get me started on Oakland).

Humboldt County, well, you know. I give it a B+.

Oregon on the other hand: Everyone's white, middle class, progressive, and is used to living in cold, dark weather. It's like Scandinavia. The entire Coastal area is a beautiful mix of redwood forests, green valleys, snow-peaked mountains, and picturesque beaches. The East is full of geological marvels and the simple, rustic feel of the Old West. The only problem with Oregon is that there are too many Californians there.

I'll agree that the migrating Californians are what's ruining Oregon. I remember it as it was back in the 60s, when i ran away from home at 16 (in California) and lived up there for a while. Now it's weirdly conservative, and the beautiful countryside is parceled out to state and private parks who charge you an arm and a leg to put a sleeping bag on the ground. Meggy, if you haven't read Ken Kesey's "Sometimes a Great Notion", you should check it out. The magic of the old Oregon is captured by Kesey in an unforgettable way. It's my favorite book of all time. And yes, Humboldt county is still awesome.

Definitely. Just look at Ashland. According to my Dad (who went to the university there in the 60s) it used to be a super badass party town. Now the biggest thing there is the Shakespeare festival

There are no detractors about Albany. Except nobody knows where or what city it is, except if you live in the Bay Area

I was born in Chico and raised in the bay area. In the 50s there were fruit orchards everywhere. When i ran away from home in 1968, maybe a tenth of the orchards were still there. Now . . . there is a massive, megasuburb that stretches from San Diego to San Fransisco. I would never live there again.
