Is It Considered Point Dumping When ...

Postby donkeymile on Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:08 pm

your dice just suck and you are consistently losing 10+ vs 1's ... while opponents are winning 3v6's, 4v6's and 3v8's etc., consistently, yet you continue to play on and start new games?

I'm down now almost 1000 points in a month or so and the freefall continues .... just curious is all .... I'm bound to lose the majority of my games now so theoretically I'm pretty much just point dumping ... WHO WANTS THEM????

Have you actually considered playing something less complicated then Luxembourg? I hear Doodle Earth is a pretty easy map to learn.

very funny .... I've played lots of Lux lately because I haven't time to play a bigger map ....however,

I WAS playing lots of bigger maps/games (about 20-30) when I saw my dice begin to dive (AGAIN) so I decided enough was enough - size and complication doesn't matter - my dice suck no matter ... so a point-dumping I will go ...albeit unwillingly

So, your luck is being awfull lately, and THEN you decide to switch to the small maps? Sounds brilliant :?

For some odd reason I'm getting a feeling that a person above me was sarcastic. Can't quite put my finger on it, though.
But... It was so artistically done.

Keep reading. You'll get it sooner or later ;)

Might I suggest to the OP to play a couple 'conquest' maps? They tend to be a little less luck based. You'll need to bring some strategy though.

so when you get some bad dice you set out to make it worst by playing completely luck based maps? very smart

I found it interesting how people stated that it was only 'perception' and not reality.

900-1000 points in maybe a month or less is not perception.

Another couple games (point dumping losses) tonight. Lost 18vs 2 again .... pretty much come to expect to see that once every few games now .. lol.

Have you considered the possibility that you just suck?

obviously there are games where I make mistakes ... just like you. I have been 2500 for quite a while (4 times now) before the dice take a big shit so no, that isn't a possibility.

I wonder what the odds of this happening in the same game are.

I lose 18v2, and 3 times 6v1. My opponent, to win the game, takes 24 vs 15, then bombards a 6,6,9,3,3,3,4,2,2 and approx. 12 1's - and still has 6 left.

Oh how much fun it is for my opponents these days .... this is close to what you can expect when you play me lately ... though this last one was bad, even for me ..... oh a point dumping I will go .. a pointdumping I will go .... something like that anyway

Perhaps you're getting really lucky streaks when you're get up to 2500, but when you get normal dice, you stay in the 1400-1800 range.

Sure it is. Perhaps the only reason you got to 2500 is because you had periods of really good dice.

Obviously. When you perform well its all skill. When you perform not so well, you are just unlucky!

Hilarious man.

Don't play games that 12-yr-olds can play well. If you want to win more, play games that require a little more thought.

That is, unless you yourself can't play those types of games...

hey i could say the same but then im mostly playing assassin now,, your points will reflect the games you play.. if you can play..
i cant hold major playing silly shit like luxemburg assassin.. play something that needs tactic rather than dice and maybe your luck will change,,

Get really good at something like fog, no spoils, adjacent reinforcements. Some assembly required.

I almost exclusively play fog, no spoils - IMO the other options don't need as much skill.

Yeah; it's not the settings that are the problem, rds.

It's about game type (1v1) and the map (small).

From a CC legal standpoint...it is not point dumping as long as you are reasonably trying to win. Point Dumping is purposely losing, not being stupid or unlucky and losing.

**However, statistics can be pretty damning, and they may be more believable than your word in some situations.
