Good luck with that. You might want to hope they don't read the public forums.

You also might want to hope they don't start getting dome big bonuses and clear you out

The chances of them getting the Norway spoil is over 100 to 1.

Plus, even if they read this, it's not like they haven't figured out what I'm doing.

Each time. 3 players (besides you), 20 rounds, that's 60 cards. All of a sudden it's much more likely, and that games likely to last a lot more than 20 rounds

and africa's a relatively common bonus to go for amongst noobs who don't know the game very well yet but aren't stupid enough to go for asia.
In fact, if every single thing on that map was the same, except you shifted it so that the atlantic ocean made the borders so that africa was on the side of the map and asia/oceania were in the middle, africa could be one of the best bonuses, if not the best. Speaking from personal experience on both sides of this equation, even vets often don't think about the fact that the world is round on the whole world maps, at least not right away

in regards to your actual plan, I don't like it. With noobs playing against you like that, they make one bad mistake, all of a sudden one guy gets a 50 deploy, and everyone is screwed, including you. If you're not going for bonuses, at least not many, they'll have the opportunity to have bigger stacks than you.
Your plan will work if they (do the stupid thing and) kill each other off, but there are other ways to be stupid, and many of them leave you with a loss.

i'm missing the point of holding Antarctica, it gives you no bonus and allows them to beat you up every where else on the map. Some of those oceania territories you have would be better to build from, sneak across through hawaii, take mexico, south america and then work on africa.

hope your strategy pays off though

Don't worry, I'm not going to let this last that long. These guys take forever to take there turn (even though that don't really matter)

Yes, I have tried for asia on this map. It didn't work out.

And another thing, I don't have to attack Africa, I could attack SA or Oceania but it would take an extra turn to move my troops.

I love this thread. All of these experienced players are offering advice, and every last bit of it is being ignored.

I'm not one to talk, though. I stink at World 2.1.

Right, but its going to take you 100 rounds at a rate of 6 men per turn to have enough men to beat a player on the verge of winning... plus all this presumes you continue at a rate of 6. As the other players start to win, your troop deployment goes down and theirs goes up.

And if anything in the above doesn't matter... your odds are more around 1 in 25. After all, there's four players drawing cards. Presuming you just stack and don't get cards, its around 1 in 33.

Ice pack, that's funny. I thought about doing the same.

Have you noticed you're getting 6 troops while your opponents are getting 12-13? Once the start eliminating players their bonus is only going to get bigger. And you'll be surprised how quickly you burn through 40 troops trying to take Africa.

Do you think he's noticed that green is about to have a strangle hold on north America with big stacks protecting it? The build and go method works great in smaller maps, and escalating games since you can offset bonuses with turn ins. If I remember right the world 2.1 map has 119 territories if you never lost a roll you'll need 105ish troops to move out and take the whole map. If you figure that you lose one troop for every 1.5 you win you'll need 150, then when you remember you're dealing with cc dice you better plan on having 235 or more troops.

The difference between this thread and the crazy strategy thread is the crazy strategy wasn't crazy in that instance, the poster had been forced to use that strategy and it's actually a smart play at times. In this case it's insanity. But I'll reserve my judgement until it plays out. Last time I spied on the game it looked like green or yellow were going to take it.

UPDATE: The past three turns below.

Turn 1: No attack, move all 51 troops under Australia.

Turn 2: Nuke Western Australia, take over Oceania.

Turn 3: Take over the Far East, the Indian subcontinent, all the Stans, and Iran.

Next turn: (As long as I'm not attacked) Take over Russia and possibly the rest of the middle-east, effectively eliminating yellow.

you're looking much better now, but the other two aren't far behind, and nukes kill bonuses easily

Dude I was the poster, but anyway...

UPDATE: Took over Russia, which Yellow was controlling; he randomly got kicked for violating a rule; I dunno what he did but I doubt it was secret diplomacy because he was getting destroyed. I now control all of Oceania and Asia... except for Sri Lanka who doesn't want to be taken. Meanwhile, I control Panama and Guatamala and I have 1 troop on each, but Green still isn't taking them. I guess he's blind. Blue now has South America and most of Africa.

UPDATE: Green attacked from the north and Blue from the west, so I retreated troops to Australia for a couple turns while my opponents did nothing noticeable until Blue attacked from Antarctica. He only had a few troops between me and South America, so I broke though and took about half of SA. The next turn he took back all but 1 territory, Argentina. This past turn I reinforced 20 on Argentina and took all but 3 regions.
