A better win announcement at the end of the game?

Postby steadman1969 on Thu Feb 17, 2011 5:50 am

One comment my wife made when I won my first game that has stuck with me since was

"is that all that happens when you win?"

So much emotional energy goes into these game, and more so as you get closer to a win I thought it might be good to have some random comment (for variety so it doesn't become the same old same old) with a variety of types; comic, historical war quotes, motivational quotes, etc.

Maybe we could have a forum for people to suggest quotes to be used?

This might not be possible but the vain streak in me would like a button I could click on (like the share one on the game menu) to share my win on facebook, it would also help advertise Conquer Club more than the once I clicked on it when I first became addicted to this site. As I said this might not be possible without an app and I see there is already a heap of talk for and against that.....

I SURELY do not want my account or my games tied to facebook. Facebook has no privacy settings that are real, so your CC account would automatically be linked to your real life profile. Everything posted is already permanent, forever. No more links are needed or a good idea.

Thanks for your comment player57832. I would have thought linking would be an option, not mandatory, for those who wish it. But the facebook idea was really just in passing. What do you think of the random quote idea with the scores?

I notice that a heap of people have looked at this suggestion but apart from player57832 no one has made any comments for or against it. maybe if I give and example of the type of random comments I meant....

You could have
classical quotes like "veni vidi vici"
comical quotes like "To the victor goes the spoils. Our lawyers would like to remind those in no-spoils games that the victor will not be receiving the spoils"

I'm sure that others could come up with better quotes than these but you see what I mean.

What if there was a banner under the map that said congratulations you have won the game! And then points were given depending on the quality of your victory?

Lets have it do old school PC solitaire style.

How about we just have a banner pop up saying "mission accomplished" at random points during the game?

Sorry 8-[

I'm sure it'd be interesting the first couple of times you win, but after that I can imagine the quotes getting a bit old. Even if you had a forum to keep them fresh, I just don't see the longevity of this suggestion. I don't disagree with making some kind of change which acknowledges a win, I just don't see it as something which the techies should spend their time on, in place of the more important gameplay and interface changes

I just don't know of anyone who looks at the game winning announcement. Most people, once they have won the game, will never look at it again. This suggestion seems to just take an enormous amount of time for something that most people just wouldn't ever use.

So you're saying there should be no reward?

I know what you mean, but the understating win message does encourage one to be humble.

I like the idea. A little humorous pop up or historical quote would make me just a little happier. I don't feel like it would be something that would be that difficult of a thing to add on to games. It's a one line thing.

Yes, cool, but if the programmers for the site have to pick and choose, I'd like to see them choose to work on some of the improvements (like new settings or changes in gameplay) that have a direct effect on gameplay. Something like this sug can be achieved by doing a little jig, clicking your heels together and high-five'ing ones'self.
