Asian Campaign

Postby CptJMoney on Wed Jan 26, 2011 7:38 am

Hey I am playing on the map World 2.1, and it is still early in the game. I have a campaign to take over asia and I control all Russia, China, Mongolia, Kazackastan, Southeast Asia, and bits of Indonesia. There are 3 other players playing. One seems to be taking over south america, one europe, but the other, a problem, Austrailia. The player taking over europe also happens to have 5 troops on India. My current headquarters is Kazackastan, and I belive I should keep it strong in the event of Europe being overrun. The war has stayed out of NA and Africa, and I control the Australian claim in Antarctica.

Any suggestions as to what to do? Sorry, I just took my turn.

The game number is 8382189 if you would like to view it.

I could also go for Canada via Russia... the countries there are controlled by random players; no one has a notable presence there.

Game 8382189 Here I posted the link to the game in question, this is a good idea when seeking advice in non-foggy games.

You should definitely first concentrate on holding your Russia bonus and then try for the Far East bonus....don't get greedy and bite off more then you can chew. Make sure you keep one bonus before trying for another.

Good Luck

UPDATE: While other two players take over Europe and SA, the Australia guy took over indonesia and all those islands near it. I saw this and decided something must be done because I had been fortifying the europe front. I reinforced in Antartica and surprised the enemy at Western Australia and took over Australia.

UPDATE: Europe guy has complete control of Europe. SA guy has spread into Central America and controls up to Mexico. I am thinking of taking Alaska and keeping him from getting the NA bonus, as he already has the SA one. The same guy seems to have a campaign in western africa, but hasn't taken too much yet, the Euro dude will probably intervene.

UPDATE: Aussie dude took back Austrailia and reinforced on the Antarctic border, buuuuuuuut he didn't reinforce the north so from Borneo I took all his countries except Java, West Aust., and Cent. Aust. He has seven troops in West Austrailia but that does not border any of my countries, and with no bonuses he simply can't pull anything off. He should be eliminated in the next couple of turns. I might see some action in Western Asia; it's Euro's turn; so I need to take India and Korea ASAP to get the Asian bonus.

UPDATE: I made a treaty with the Euro Dude, I let him have the Middle East and he let me have India and Nepal, and we would overwise leave each other alone for now. SA guy now controlls up to the US but has yet to take Canada. The Aussie dude keeps fighting me but now he has three misfit countries with one troop each on them. Nothing is really going on in Africa right now.

As important as whereabouts on the map to play is the table underneath the map: how many troops you have and how many reinforcements. You are good on reinforcements but very weak on troops. Eg the guy who is getting nearly 30 troops to deploy could wipe you out in 2-3 turns in theory. You need to focus on building your strength & hopefully keep quiet in the background while red and green fight it out. So you can either decide to build up in Asia, or to finish off blue in Aus & build up there. Either way you should be deploying some troops on key regions for defence every turn (key regions for defence ar either regions on the borders of your bonuses and/or regions that assault many other regions, eg China). In an ideal scenario, after a few turns you will be strong in either Oceania or Asia (ie have stacks as big as your neighbours) and be able to re-take the area you left as second priority. When there are 3 players left on the map, & you are not far behind the leader in strength, you look again
In flat rate games you should aim to end each turn with more troops than you started the turn with.
PS You don't have a treaty with the Europe dude, just a short term understanding while it suits him. Trust him as far as it suits him to hurt someone else. :D
Enjoy - it's a great map, & it looks a fun game where you have done good so far.

UPDATE: I've decided to stop expanding. I let Blue take over Oceania for now except for hawaii, and I've taken all of asia except the Middle-east. Euro has made to attempts to take south america, one from antarctica and one from africa. Right now Euro is winning with me in second, SA dude in third and Aussie in forth.

UPDATE: Another Euro attack on SA failed, but Euro managed to keep troops in NE Brazil. I proposed a plan to Euro: I would attack from Hawaii and take mexico, then move south. The turn after mine is Euro's, so he would attack from NE brazil. SA can rebound after one attack, but it couldn't rebound after two. I calculate that Aussie won't attack, just reinforce. He is a corporal first class which means he should be smart.

UPDATE: SA guy saw my plan and has tried to make an allaince with Aussie, so I called off the attack. I'm reinforcing the Eastern borders, and next turn I get to cash in green spoils.

Should I attack?
If yes, who should I attack and where?

Be aware that red is most probably trying to manipulate you into attacking and suiciding against green. You are probably the weakest player at this point due to a low troop count. Try to stay out of this battle between them (I'd have thought red would handle green fine if you don't interfere), and focus on building up...you cannot maintain so many fronts at the same time (it's the same mistake I made first time on this map). Ward blue off, and perhaps try to get a few turns alliance with him.

UPDATE: I pushed SA back and took Alaska. The next turn, SA came from Mexico and took a few of my regions but I pushed him back and took Mexico, plus a Canada region from Alaska. Aussie will probably attack again next turn, so I urged Euro to attack NA while he could.

It's time to get the others to attack red, who is clearly leading the game. You need to stack some troops on your borders, because you'll be lucky to be alive for a few rounds if you go on like this. You keep attacking, without defending your bonuses. To be hounest, I don't understand why red doesn't just eliminate you. You can turn this around though, but you'll need the cooperation of the other players and lay low for 2 or 3 rounds.

Not much you can do now. Take Russia in two turns, and be very very quiet. You are pushing their buttons with your chat.
