I think the best strategy on that one is to not play. ;)

Das Schloss Questions

Postby Easy n Dirty on Mon Jan 24, 2011 8:46 am

Playing my first games on this maze, and in the fog no less, got a couple questions:

1. Is there any way to attack the parachutes (Casey, Jones, Mills, etc.) other than from the two Hubschrauber spots?

2. Am I reading the legend correctly - the two Hubschrauber spots reset to a neutral 60 after each turn? If so, and if the answer to my first question is yes, then it would seem that every game on this map must be incredibly long. I feel like I'm missing something here.

3. Given all of the autodeploy onto the parachute spots as well as the 1 and 2 spots stemming from the parachutes, the strategy would seem to be to take the access point and then use fortifications to be able to get those troops into the field of play (understanding that the access point will reset to neutral). Is that about right?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1 no
2 yes
3 no, access point resets every turn you hold it, so all troops forted to it will die...

Lucky nuclear cards can kill a game, but otherwise it will take quite a while. yep thats right.

So is it fair to say then that most games on Das Schloss end when one player fulfills the objective, rather than through elimination of all opponents? For the games I am in currently, I am asking specifically about 1-on-1 games on this map.

Thanks again.

Yeah. In 1v1 games, never try for eliminating your opponents. In most games, don't try eliminating your opponents. Taking the objective is much easier and faster.

I've found that you have to eliminate your opponent outside of the parachute zone then go for the bonus.

A couple of questions. Is your fortifications Unlimited? If so then I like to take the advantage and fort all of your troops just outside the access zone before my opponent.

My tactics may be flawed but they seemed to work. I kinda like this map for 1v1 and I'd love to explore more strategies/tactic on the map.

Okay no real knowledge transferred in this thread so I'll do a brain dump and all you experts can correct me (likely not as no one has shared to date)

I've played this game in a 1v1 setting only and it seems like the main way to win is hold the objective. Even with Nuclear spoils you have to get perfect cards to knock out your opponent with a trade.

Some basic guidelines that I've followed based on my games and looking at past games played.

Go for the Das Schloß or Flughafen bonus depending on where you have the advantage in getting to 5 territories faster. These two bonuses are separated by plenty of neutral territories so holding one of these will help, holding both will lead to a victory.

Take your auto deploy territories as you need them. Don't just take all the territories for the sake of having them all. Use these as an easy place to pick up cards if applicable.

Depending on the type of reinforcements that you are in you should consider building your army beyond the access point.

I'm sure that I'm missing plenty of information but in my few games these are the things that I noticed leading to wins.

Pick up your auto deploy immediately. If you play 1v1, picking them all up gives you a bonus I think. And I find that the best cards is no cards in this one...

The games that I've played only get you a territory bonus for the auto deploy zone, no additional bonus. In reading the map thread there was a bonus previously but not anymore.

I have a question on this map as well.... I do not understand the proper territories that have to be held in order to complete the objective.. I read the legend and cannot find them. and its not a 'continent' that i can click on in BOB. Which territories are they and how many neutrals are on them?

Edit: I know the Escape is the runway top right, but thats it

its discribes the objectives in the top right hand corner of the map.
the positions to hold are the
Kon. Wilhelm. to be found in the middle of the white area in the lower right corner.
Munitions raum & funk raum(2 area's) next to eachother in the middle of the cellblock area in the upper left corner
Escape flugzeuge, as your said in the upper right hand corner...

so a total of 4 area's,, they each start neutral with 6, except Kon. Wilhelm has 12.
You could try to read the original map thread. lots of info found there, but this is just out the top of my head.

SirSebstar says
Pick up your auto deploy immediately.
Cards can be picked up on other spots... free bonussess are harder..
get to your required amount of lands e.g.5 to get a bonus fast., break your opponant, but mainly try to get safe bonussess first.
top part of the map is more difficult to reach so killing your enemy there will also keep your bonus more safe. Once done, do not go for the compele bonus, do not kill neutrals unless they carry a true bonus for you. kill your opponant instead.

1vs1 always go for your opponant, ignore bonussess that require multiple neutrals to kill and leave you open to be broken...

The top left in the middle of the two cell blocks and the four areas surrounding that are all sixes.

Top right I believe its three sixes, and three twos or something like that from the FS spots up to the escape area.

The bottom right corner where the last objective is is a n15 and a n12 to get to that one which is surrounded by all the DS spaces.

1 v 1 usually comes to where u are stronger. I prefer the top left of the map to start out deploying in but if i like my drop better top right i'll go there. Trick is to get the bonus'. It's a neutral heavy map so don't go plowing through them to just clear the way for your opponent.

The map does take a while to finish. It's one of those ones that once you get ahead it will still be at least another 7 or more rounds until it is over. And that is if your opponent is flopping like a dead fish.

I concor with this assesment, esp in a no spoils game.
