So if you rolled five aces, would you score yourself a yahtzee? Or would you score five aces in the hope that your upper section total is 63 or higher in order to get the 25 point bonus?

Definately go with the Yahtzee in hopes of getting a second for the 100 point 2nd Yahtzee. I always save my 1's for a fallback in I cant get the large straight.... lol

When I played with my mother, getting a second Yahtzee gave you a 50 point bonus, so you always had to write a yahtzee as a yahtzee.

It can still depend on how your opponent is looking. if a couple of points looks like being enough to get higher than your opponent, go for the safer option. If you are way behind and could only win with a LOT of points, you should write down yahtzee and hope for the 50 point bonus when having a second one.
