Officer vs NCO

In my career here at CC, I tend to bounce up and down the rank ladder. I usually average about 1500 points or so but frequently run the gamut between Master Corporal and Captain. I have discovered that when I'm below the rank of Lt, I find that my game suffers for it, and I tend to make dumb mistakes. But when I'm an officer, I tend to play better, or at least I think I do.

I think it's a confidence issue for me. In my head I can't get past the illusion that because I'm not an officer, I suck at the game. Therefore, I suck at the game when I'm a striper. Perhaps subconsciously sabotaging myself to lose. Whereas when I have earned my commission back, I play better. I don't suck when I have a leaf.

I'm curious if this is unique to my own experience, or is this something that others suffer from? Is there a general illusion around here that if you do not hold a certain rank, you are a poor player?

I know that I'm finally glad I got out of my stripes personally---but I fear that I'm slowly heading back toward that, since I've been playing games that I know I usually can't win!

Now, if I understand you correctly, you're saying that when you have more points you play better than when you have less points due to having more confidence in yourself. My question to you is therefore, why do you ever lose points? Surely if you play better with more points, then your average will go up leaps and bounds?

Anyway, I'm sure a few people have the same subconscious issue as you...me? I blame the alcohol...

When you achieve a higher rank, you usually have to play others that have similar ranks to keep the point gain/loss equal. So by playing better competition, you will usually find yourself losing more often even though you are playing better. There are exceptions with the farmers and such, but getting and keeping a quality rank is what everyone should be shooting for to measure ability. Some people just cant seem to become an officer, and its probably because their understanding of their gameplay isnt at that level yet.

My highest was 2520, lowest was 600+ which was when I first joined. So far, I bounce between major(2100) and lieutenant. I have never dropped below the officer level for a few months now. Normally the routine is: Log on, find my rank 1-2 ranks below where it was last night. win a few games, either stay at the current rank or get promoted. Play a few speeders and win a few points. Normally I go up then down then end up where I was originally. I find that sometimes after I win a lot of points, I go down quite quickly. Like I was making a run for colonel. I went from 1900 to 2470 in 3 days. I played only the games I was good at. then I think I got to 2484 around there. Then in 2 days I was 1700. Plus I lose A LOT of points when I'm offline. I can make it to colonel but only if I'm extremely careful with my rank and I only start sure-win games. But what's the fun in that

How do you lose a lot of points when you are offline?

Surely some games end when you're not there... but that should not be more than what you win.

How do you lose a lot of points when you are offline?

Surely some games end when you're not there... but that should not be more than what you win.

No, but I play like 80-100 games at a time and at my rank one game costs you 20-40 points.
