Dice bitching and the "good old days"

I haven't been here long (unless you count a few weeks shy of 2 years long), but were there dice bitch threads a long time ago or are they a newer phenomenon?

They have always been around. However, since the 'new' dice runs were introduced the level of 'streakiness' does seem to have increased the level of dissatisfaction rather than decreased it....but hey, who cares? I just play elsewhere and only play clan games here now... which of course means I shall not be renewing my premium membership either as I now pay elsewhere and so the opportunity cost for playing here is no longer of value to me.

There has always been a lot of talk about dice sucking. Both in GD and occasionally SIB. Has that trend gone up? I don't have the statistics to say specifically but I think it was more a case that it ebbed in the middle.

I don't know what all the stink about dice is about. Mine have been fine today. Well except for losing 9 for 3. But hey that even happens in rl every now and then.

Replying to all up to here:

Arama86n, this one is different as I'm not bitching, just trying to gauge how the bitching compares to the good old days that owen and others always refer to. I like you though because you're Swedish.

Fruitcake, would you say the dice are as fair as they used to be, but more streaky? That's been my experience mostly, you either get really good dice or bad dice. However in the long run they seem to even out.

People always complained, but not like now. When people used to complain about how bad dice hurt their rank, it was easier to just dismiss them as bad players. Now, it's possible it's true. Last week I won a Poland game I had absolutely no business winning and lost a Poland game I had absolutely no business losing.

I think it has been more immediately streaky - if you auto-attack and hit some double wins/losses, it usually chains about 5 such rolls together so 25v25 can easily and quickly end up either advancing 18 or 3v19. I've almost virtually abandoned using the auto attack button (unless I'm sitting an account) b/c I'm tired of seeing the results end so skewed. Although clicking attack and then seeing 0-2, 0-2, 0-2, 0-2, 0-2 is also not fun.

Looking back on old games and game chats I don't find much team or game chat complaining about dice, so maybe you've got something. Can't have a game now that doesn't bubble down into bitching about it.
