Nuclear Spoils

Postby Vlasov on Sat Nov 20, 2010 10:52 am

In a Nuclear game, the same "Spoils" territory/card kept coming up over and over. I used it, then an opponent got it and used it, then I got it back again and used it, then an opponent got it again and used it again, then I got it again and used it, etc., at least 4 or 5 times.

I've seen this happen in other Nuclear games, but it was very noticeable in a game with only 3 players left.

What's up with that? Shouldn't the appearance of Spoils/cards be more randomized?

if you are playing a map that does not have that many territory this can happen. anything can happen with random cards

Actually shouldn't be that hard to non-randomize the cardz in nuclear games...I've had the sit where a card was used then the next turn was used again...shouldn't be too hard to co-ordinate it so it resembles the board games i.e. donesn't get used again until all cardz have been used once, then reshuffled...I'd moved 150 troops after the hit and lost them B4 I'd had another go...learned that lesson REAL quick...

You do not need a game no if you play nuc spoils regular you will see the problem yourself. This has been brought up a couple of times about nuc spoils but all we get told is. the cards are random. i have had times where i have cashed a set to get the same card back at the end of my shot.

It's not hard to do. That's just not how they want spoils to work in this game.

if it is random well then that means there is a chance of this happening.

It is game #7933504 (Indian Empire/fog). Territory "Multan" kept coming up over and over.

Of course I realize this would be more likely in a game with fewer territories and fewer players... but it seems like when I cashed in a set including a certain card, it went to the "top of the draw deck" (so to speak) and was immediately drawn again by myself or an opponent.

Eddie 2, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this!

I was looking for the size of the map.

On that note, the map is small, only having 29 regions. Although unlikely that it could happen, I have to concede there is the possibility that this could happen in a random event. If you feel that this is a legitimate bug, then you should post it in the bug reports forum, and it will get looked at. :)

A map with 29 regions and just 4 players can mean that all but 9 get used up in the stack. The odds of drawing a card twice even with just two people over many rounds aren't ridiculously not in your favor. This will happen with other spoil types as well, not just nuclear. If you want this to not happen, play larger maps, a different spoil setting, or no spoils at all :D.

this is not an issue with other spoils as you get 2 troops added to the territory if it keeps popping up in your hand - no one will complain about that

it is only on nuclear that this could cause issues with the players

when i play Monopoly i place the Chance or Community Chest cards on the bottom of the deck, face up. that way i know when all cards have been used once and it is time to shuffle them (randomise them).

perhaps something similar could be done here
